PiTool .245 FW255 Discussion/Questions/Features/Bugs/Etc

No problem. I only mentioned it as I had the same thing only in the right eye when I tried to overclock but unlike what you just described mine never went away.

I hope you work it out.

can anyone send me a link to this pitoll version as official link is broken ?

I don’t see back-light brightness option in .249. It’s only me or general issue ?
I have not using VR over 2 months and missed all that changes in Pitool.

They mentioned backlight control temporarily due to needing to re evaluate brightness level. It I think was detailed in 245 or 197. Not sure which version detailed it. But will return in a future release.

Hmm… framerate has taken a huge hit since I updated to .245 FW255. Went from more or less holding 90hz in iRacing to struggling to hold 70hz even with graphics turned down and SS reduced to 1x. Running the HDR graphics setting is no longer viable.

Still haven’t done these updates as I have yet to see what the upsides are supposed to be (outside of a 120hz mode which I don’t have anywhere close to the power to push at the resolutions I want to drive anyway, so I won’t be using that). Are there any actual advantages whatsoever to updating from the 1.0.1.180 beta?

P.S. As a feature request, It would be great to have a thread where the top-post always links to the latest downloads. If that exists here I haven’t been able to find it.

EDIT: Well, I did manage to find some later versions (1.0.1.253 and 1.0.1.254 alpha) and decided I could probably safely update at least PiTool (creating a restore point first). And of course it updated my firmware without asking, lovely. (Note: PLEASE don’t do this, I really want to have to hit the update button manually for my firmware! - It’s OK to tell me it should be updated, but launching PiTool and then seeing ā€œUpdating your Firmware please don’t turn off your headsetā€ made my heart sink). As far as I can tell it went OK, I’m at firmware 2.1.255.212 (EDIT, I now see this did not update) now, and the check for updates button does not show me any further firmware updates. However, I am not seeing any of the supposed higher refresh-rates that should be there (I have a rev. 203 HMD).

Pitool\Release Notes - Category has latest Pitool downloads.

What are your system specs?

Thank you! Hopefully I’ll remember where that thread is.

And it had failed to update properly. I didn’t realize which set of digits the ā€œ255ā€ firmware was referring to and thought the update went properly. Upon restart it updated again and did so properly. I now see the 120hz mode.

I have an i7 6700K overclocked and liquid cooled at 4.4ghz
16GB ram
2880 Super (mild overclock on GPU + considerable vram OC - this is the norm on these cards as they come with extremely underclocked vram)
All SSD storage

I do tend to drive high resolutions, I’m extremely sensitive to blurriness (for example, I can tell you which of my local theaters have 2K digital projectors, because they look continually out of focus to me), so I simply have to run at fairly high resolutions. I’ll probably never push the 120hz mode, because as it stands today I’m barely able to achieve 45fps at the resolutions I want. Maybe in a couple of years with next-gen CPU and GPU though!

Since your in the Pitool\Discussion Sub category. If you click on Pitool in Orange

It will let you choose which Subcategory within Pitool main category.

You can also use the dropdown on pitool to change main category to ie Pimax HMD
