Since my OG days, I have had an issue with smartsmoothing working. I got into beta test, specifically to give feedback about smartsmoothing. Here we are today with a super 57ppd, same issue. When I am on the ground I get this wobbling texture effect on buildings, objects sometimes the terrain in the distract. Even in the set up menu of msfs2024. When I get up to altitude it is less noticeable. If anyone had this problem before and fixed it, please let me know how. I even converted to the sBoys3 drivers to use the steam version of this and I get the same problem. Look at the edge of the building in this video, this is what I get when I enable smart smoothing.
If I may suggest… Try this instead of smart smoothing, should work better with less artefacts:
Discussion here on discord (Flat2VR Modding) if you want to know more:
Thanks I gave it a shot. Didn’t really see a difference, but I will play around with it more.
This is only for OpenXR games, it won’t work with OpenVR.
If you tell me which game I can help!
I only play two. MSFS2024 and DCS.
Those two games are really amongst the best candidate for OFXR. And I’m not just saying that because I am co-developing it!
I just released a new version which fixes frame pacing issues with Pimax OpenXR. You can try.
Otherwise, I suggest you try SteamVR sboys3 driver through Pimax EVO. This enables further optimizations for Pimax headsets.
Thank you. I’ll test out Pimax runtime tomorrow.
Thank you for the help! I have some follow up questions.
Is this better with openxr or with sBoys3 and steamvr?
What would be the recommended settings for a 5090 in MSFS2024?
Right now I’m running OFB=Slow, OFR=50% I have the FPS on, but I do not see a counter in game.
How do I know if it is working or not?
Thank you!
I recommend sboys3.
I have a 5090 and I would recommend to leave the default, Nvidia medium, 50% optical flow, and keep FPS over latency. If you selected the FPS in the FPS overlay, you should have a green FPS number showing when in VR. The tray icon should be green when OFXR is armed and ready.
If you select bridge recorder before starting the VR session, you should see two squares (green and purple flashing very quickly), if you don’t see them, something is wrong and OFXR is not working.
Then you can go to Open bridge logs and send me the .log files in there so I can have a look.
Also, I released a new version with 3X Frame Generation, that could help.
Thank you for the help. I failed to RTFM and I was running SIMVROptimizer to launch the sim, which caused OFXR bridge not to launch.I got it all sorted out!
Great!
Also, please do use SteamVR sboys3. I just found out an issue in Pimax OpenXR runtime which will cause OFXR to use a lot more VRAM than necessary.
Opening a new topic so that Pimax can fix it.
I am using steam vr.
How do I follow on github, so I can keep up with the updates?
For now, just check regularly on Releases · djules75/OFXR-Bridge · GitHub.
I just released a new version which fixes a few performance issues with SteamVR.
In the future, I’ll add a new version reminder.
You can also follow the discord channel on Flat2VR.
Thank you!
