Pimax Play 2.01

Finally here. Let’s see how it is

I would like to know what has been changed/fixed since previous version.

All I can see is that my FPS in DCS have dropped by 30% on the settings I had before.

I think the latest PP has a problem with Nvidia driver 610.47. I’ve rolled back to 596.49, and performance seems better, or at least closer to what I had in PP2.0.

Did you just install them or did you use the ddu tool to install fresh, sometime there are residual that effect the new driver?

Huh. On my box 2.1 seems like an improvement. But I also updated DCS itself this weekend and the GPU driver. Smooth like a babies’ butt.

Motion smoothing still broken though. Flickering like my GPU is dying. Turned that off right quick, hate the thought of my 5090 throwing glitchy crap like that!

Hi,

Since updating Pimax Play to version 2.0.1 I have some slight stutters at irregular intervals, especially when moving my head. Overall tracking seems to be improved though.
Don’t know if it is due to Pimax Play or the new firmware 1.0.3.

EDIT: Reverted back to Pimax Play 1.44.2 and the stutters are almost completely gone.

I did not use DDU, but have since done so. I have an RTX 5090 (Gigabyte Aorus Master/Windows 11).
Oddly, when I restarted the PC after DDU I seem to have automatically received a driver update to 591.86 without downloading. This dates from Jan 27, 2026. I also reinstalled the Nvidia App, but have not dared yet to accept the 610.47 update offered.

My FPS in DCS are still 25-30% down on same configuration as in v2.0.

I have an 8kX headset, and I was using firmware 1.44.2, setting 1.2, and the viewing angle is normal. The visual resolution in the game is approximately 4600x3700, and I was happy with everything.

I tried firmware 2.1, and with the settings at 1.0 and the normal viewing angle, the picture is stretched very much horizontally and reduced vertically, reaching approximately 7000x3000, and it becomes unplayable. No matter how I changed the viewing angle to 0.8-0.7, it doesn’t help. The horizontal stretches and the vertical decreases. It’s 6000x2500, and so on.
This is also a problem with firmware 2.0.
Can you fix it? It’s not stretching the screen horizontally for 8K. Thank you.

Release notes were posted on reddit:

I tried DCS with Super 50 PPD and it seemed to work well, ie. I didn’t notice any FPS drop. Frame times were maybe even smoother than earlier.

And this was with Ryzen 9950X3D and RTX 4090.

I found the issue: the values and settings under Image quality and QuadViews per game settings became switched from 2.0. Having then reset them, they switched again a couple of hours later i.e. the same issue as in 2.0 seemingly not resolved.

No access yet for me for the 2.01

Waiting with baited breath for the update which will hopefully sort out bad stuttering on PCS with Micro OLED panel

Not a profie user, but have noted a drop of at least 20 fps. 4080 super, Warthunder, from a comfortable 80 to 90 fps to an eye jarring 50 to 65. Sorry going back to the none Beta.

Pimax Play 2.01 is available for download from the downloads section of the Pimax website.

You can find the download either in the Reddit post or on the Pimax Play download page.
