As an owner of a Pimax 8KX, 5K Super and Artisan, are there any changes aside from the motion smoothing fix that benefits those specific headsets? I’m currently using Pimax Play 1.41.1 for those headsets and the OG Crystal. (5070ti, 3900x, 32 GB ram, Nvidia drivers 581.94)
Tested it for a few hours tonight with Assetto Corsa. So far everything is working good.
I would like to suggest an option to disable the IPD popup, If I move my head too fast when racing I can sometimes get the ipd menu to pop up. Almost hit a wall lol.
It happens even on the Quest if you happen to jerk your head left and right too fast. It is just a property of the ipd function being on a movable part, moving it enough to trigger the popup.
It does not happen much as I am not often doing that but sometimes If I look really fast one way then fast the other way (racing) it can pop up. If I had a way to disable it before racing I would just as a fail safe.
It is possible that they have it programmed to popup when it detects movement on the ipd gearing instead of popping up because you triggered the ipd change.
I get this sometimes as the headset bumps into your nose and may shift the IPD by small value, so it pops up and can be distracting, so an option to disable the popup would be great.
Please add favorite tab option to get to your favorite games quicker.
Also, would it be possible to have the software switching between different hz depending on which game you’re playing? I know you have to manually do it yourself but I don’t want to do that…i want instant switch depending on which game i pick. I don’t like keep switching hz before every game, it’s pretty annoying. For example, I may accidently load AMS2 with 90hz only to realize…oh no, I am supposed to do 72hz. Ooops, got to redo everything over…it’s annoying. Is it possible to associate each game to different hz? So that if a game load up, the headset would instantly switch to that hz associate to that game profile?
Also, when is Pimax going to fix the room setup floor thing and make it at least permanent? Is it even possible at this point? It is inevitable that one ALWAYS have to setup room every time they turn on the PC? I don’t remember if Lighthouses ever have to do that?
Hey @reptilexcq those are v.good ideas Re 72 vs 90 hz, it is odd but on the 5090 I do not get better fps if I switch down to 72hz. At 90hz in AMS2 it maintains 90fps on Super uOled with some dips that are barely perceptible, I think due to the oled persistence. But at 72hz it struggles and fps can drop to 67fps so I do not know what is the problem there ?
Having to do the Room setup so often is annoying so it would be great to have an option to maintain last setup and only update if necessary.
I’m not sure whether we can create a tab for users to build profiles and load them for specific games. If that works, changing the refresh rate shouldn’t be a problem. As for room setup, I know it’s annoying, and the team is working on it.
I would say there’s an improvement to the tracking under 1.43.6 as oppose to 1.43.4. I notice less jitter and the quick room setup finally work and doesn’t kick you out of the game entirely like it did before. Like if there is a drift from the floor height, I can now just do a quick room setup without it kicks me out the game entirely. So it seems stability improve somewhat. It still doesn’t work quite as well when the room is completely dark though. It seems to work well with lights…that’s my initial impression.
