Yes indeed. I suddenly remembered i had this 100usd coupon which i finally had a use for: The new cable! But… I have tried to use my 100usd coupon to buy it at backer.pimaxvr.com (which changes while ordering in shop.pimaxvr and when my login failed, changed to pimax.com, where, after trying to reset my password to be able to login, the CAPTCHA was completed for sending a new password, but after trying several times…no new password was sent, i checked spam box as well.)
Very confusing, and now the coupon, which i was sent a new one in dec 2019, after the plan F debacle had been cancelled from my side, is not working. I do not understand a single thing of all this. PS opened a ticket again.

Well, i’ll be damned  Today i got a reply that the cable was available again (did not see it wasn’t, but ok) and yes my coupon worked. Thanks to @Emily.wang :+1: so thumbs up for this one!

People forget about HP and the first reverb version it was a nightmare for their customers(Ive never seen anything made by HP worth a damn in the long/short run)Id wait and see on the launch version of the G2,as a Index customer for close to a year now Mine has been great but I want high resolution and FOV and im gambling on Pimax to deliver and so far if the reviews are legit its seems theyve achieved what im looking for(hopefully),for $1450.00 US(DMAS) ,its a significant gamble on my part ,I never wouldve believed Id spend that kinda cash on an HMD,reading some of the horror stories on the web im not sure whats goin to happen but Im optimistic Pimax wants and needs to stay in business,I have to admit Ive been very tempted to hit the refund button ,and if Pimax screws me Ill be waiting to see what Valve comes up with next I suspect its gonna be gen2 at least(but expensive)

I got an email for a ticket saying they were getting ready to send my base station. This was a month after I had already received the base station. It took 3 emails to clear the ticket.
There seems to be a lot of junior staff that are in over their heads when it comes to how things work (or should work).
While I see some slight improvements, Pimax still has a big gap in the efficiency of it supply chain. I certainly don’t expect the kind of quick response of juggernauts like Valve and Oculus, but seeing China ships so many goods around the world, I can’t believe there is a shortage of skilled people capable of expediting such matters. It’s not like shipping isn’t what they do.

Many of us feel that way. I do, even though I got a backer discount for the upgrade. I’ve still spent a lot of money on my 8K, 8KX, DMAS and also on an RTX 2080. Later this year, I’ll probably spend even more for a 3080 Ti or 3090.

You don’t have to buy the G2 in china this is in itself a big difference, wait the availability in a credible US or EURO vendor with a 30 days return policy

The only bemol I see is that because of the COVID-19 VR headsets will not be returnable unless in unopened box ;-/

Nah, they can’t do that, a vr headset is not considered to be a “hygiene” item any more than any other electronic device.

I paid the same for the oculus link cable!

because the touch the skin like for headphones is already the case for some outlet in Canada

Virtual Reality Headsets (Oculus Rift, PlayStation VR, etc.)

Return Period: 30 days
Condition: Unopened

which doesn’t apply if its faulty anyway

I’ve just checked a few of the usual places I would consider buying a VR headset from (or headphones) and they all accept 30 days returns, nothing about unopened for either of those types of items

No but if you’re not 100% satisfied because Eyes strain, lack of color, brightness, comfort etc you can’t tried it before it’s problem same has buying from China. So something to watch carefully

And how did the headset get in the box in the first place, and how did the box get sealed? I think every company on the world is not made of robots. I find some unscrupulous companies are trying to use coronavirus as an excuse for bad business practices. Everywhere you go these days someone has a coronavirus excuse for something.

I think they’re on the path to enlightenment, but it just takes time to restore consumer confidence. No shortcuts to get there. Just time spent doing the right thing and making people happy.

Personally if I was in charge once the vision series is in stable production and backers/pre-orders are completely provided with what they paid for I’d rebrand the image. Drop everything from production except the 8kx and Artisan. Rename the company, rename the headsets, close the website/forum, everything, And just rebuild everything on the public image side from the foundation up. Remove everything from public site that isn’t in serial production.

Do a timed relaunch with the new image, stable drivers, developer support, timed review releases with major content creators.

Honestly I do also feel the more SKUs creates more problems than it solves. Suddenly you as a customer have to research so many different options, read through dozens of reviews about reach one before being expected to make a decision. It’s just too much.

That indeed is the origin of problems. The 5k 8k and 8k+ were for a startup already a big takeon, let alone al the needed accessoiries and software development.

Look at Valve, a big company, with cash to burn and more than enough resoures. Even they worked for years on just one hmd and controllers. (Ok, and in conjuction with HTC on the Vive).

I hope they start to focus now, and it seems like they do atm.

Which tells me what?

that the price in the VR industry is completely normal for a $ 5 spare part

Ah, yes indeed  As is with all technology related items for sure. But i discovered on YT that the cable can be a cheap AliExpress cable and works also. So if i had a Quest,i wouldnt buy the Oculus cable for sure.
These high prices are exactly what is keeping many folks holding back on purchasing a VR setup.
And on the other hand what makes the Quest succesful
