Just received the email about the new facial interface for the dreamAir.
It seems Pimax is about to send the interface made by StudioFormCreative.
Am I correct ? If so, it is a huge disapointment, as their interface, even if it is more confortable, has nothing to do with the promise one.
It’s a black piece of printed plastic, it is way more heavy than the Pimax one and, to be honest, it looks ugly.
Am I mistaken ?
Where is the one that we saw on some videos, it seems to be very ok.
No way? I agree! I purchased a StudioForm interface. Much nicer than the original one but really expecting something better from Pimax. Hope they deliver
Dream Air or Dream Air SE? Because the email I got has two distinct looking versions. One with the white mesh but bigger and a supposedly more comfortable interface (DA) and the other is a black version that’s made to take the studioform padding (SE).
It would be disappointing indeed if the DA got the studioform version as well, but only because I have it already as I got tired of waiting for them to fix it.
The Dream Air will not be receiving the StudioForm version.
For the Dream Air, we’ll be providing our own updated facial interface—the white version. You can take a look at the image for reference (the right one).

I just got the new facial interface for my Dream Air. It must be a mistake because it is almost exactly like the original interface. I tried it, not any better fov. Comfort is only marginally better. I am seriously disappointed. The Studioform and zeeflyboys are light years better than this.
Thanks for your feedback, I sort of expected this. They have increased the padded area and thickness I believe but the cut back on the cheeks remains? All the Pimax vids show the top but not the underside so I couldn’t get a good look at that bit.
My original interface fit perfectly above my eyes but cut back steeply below and I could get my fingers between it and my cheekbones and I have quite thick fingers so a big gap there.
I have the Studioform one and had to pack the bottom part out as that also had a gap but only a few mm, t I felt the lenses weren’t square to my eyes but canted downward. I also felt the audio strap was not level but canted up at the rear. I was too close to the lenses on the original mask and even had to pack out the SF mask a little too.
Maybe my cheekbones aren’t prominent enough. That said though I had the Crystal Light comfort pack also from SF and that didn’t require packing out to my cheeks .at least as I remember,.I had to pack the as it was too wide
Is the Zeeflyboy printed one any different from the Studioform one in the lower part of the interface would you say or are they pretty much the same fit wise on the cheeks?
I like the zeeflyboys with the open bottom. I fly Xplane and like to be able to glance down and see physical instruments. It is not the best view but it is workable. Nothing else lets me do that without lifting the headset.
That being said, with both the zeeflyboys and studioform I get HFOV 114 and VFOV 118. The stock pimax interfaces are nowhere near that. Really disappointed this this ‘improved’ facial interface. Seems like a lot of effort went into making virtually no improvements.
