Pimax Crystal Wifi Airlink Issues

Hi everyone. First I am extremly pleased with the beta version so far. It is not perfect but much better than I thought it would be. Overall I can play pretty well and it is close to Quest 3 experience but better resolution. I have some issues if someone can help me with.

The first is the audio is not working. I tried to toggle Divice Audio by default in the app and chosing USB Audio that was new in the list of outputs and still nothing. For now I am using wireless headphones but it would be nice to have the audio come of the D-Mass I already have on the headset.

Second issue is I cant change the refreshrate of the headset. Some games even with 5080 are hard to run and I would like to try them with 72hz but it only defaults to 90hz and I dont have the tab to change it in the PC app or even in the standalone menue in the headset. Is there a way to fix it?

Last thing is a question about future developpement. I also wonder if I should change my router from wifi 6 to wifi 6e. My wifi 6 worked very well with Quest 3 via Virtual Desktop. I can easily push it to 200mbs with very low latency. I never felt the need to upgrade but now I wonder if the the PC OG high resolution if it would be even better with 6e.

PS : I guess I am not the first to ask about adding Steam’s new foveated streaming option. That would be great to have and almost make it perfect. I hope this is a feature in the making for future updates.

Thank you

Hi,

You can first check whether the audio works in PCVR mode, then switch back to Wi-Fi streaming. If the issue persists, please export a log file and I’ll forward it to the developers to investigate why Pimax audio isn’t being assigned as the output device.

At the moment, only the 90Hz refresh rate is supported, as refresh rate switching has not been added yet. I’ll also check whether there are plans to add this feature.

Let me check with the developers regarding the router.

Airlink needs developing for sure. more stability high stream ( hope will be foveated as you suggest) and other things. Hoping devs don’t let it down

Wont be the Devs that let it down, it will be management. If something isn’t happening or is implemented poorly, it was a management decision not to dedicate the resources. Never forget that.

I cant connect to my pc despite my pc being able to ping the headset. Even when allowed on my firewall like I do with sunshine on my TV for game streaming. Nothing gets picked up on the headset saying no pc available.

Anyone find a work around. I have a unify network if that helps?

Hi. Thank you for the answer. I use it in wired PCVR mode all the time both with inside-out tracking and lighthouse mode and both have the audio work with no issue. I will try to send you the log.

I also noticed an issue that other people also reported. While in standalone mode, sometimes the headset crashes and just shuts off by itself. It doesn’t only happen while streaming games but even sometimes in the headset OS itself. At one point, my battery was low so I plugged it while wirelessly streaming games with Airlink and this issue never happened once. I realized it was a battery issue. It tends to happen more when the battery is low but sometimes also when the battery is full. I feel it is too weak or has power consumption surges that overload it. Having to plug it while playing totally defies the purpose of wireless VR. I hope there will be a fix to that.

I think they need to be on the same subnet. No firewall in between them. I’m sure there is some broadcast/multicast traffic being used to find each other.

Noted. I’ve encountered the same issue as well and have reported this to the dev team.

Yes. I do not understand why that or why it cannot pick up my network thst is hidden even though it has a static ip and Mac locked to the router . This is frustrating and a security issue as well as I do not want my pc to be on my insecure network nor should it have to be. @PimaxQuorra

Please advise if the devs can maybe advise why the headsets cannot find other pcs on a different subnet when allowed and pinged from the pc side and why hidden networks do not maintain connection.

I have to go inside my iot vnet unhide the network, connect my pc to the same network then connect them both.

Might seem trivial but i dont want network congestion as well or to advertise my smart home to everyone. Hackers will find a way regardless but out of mind out of sight is my belief.

This is not needed for chromecast, home server stream or even the guest network where guests who need to connect to one or two things on a different vlan.

Any feedback on the lag or power issues?
