They mention OTA as if that is the way they deliver the updates on ET, Auto-IPD and stand-alone. At least that is how I read that sentence.
I really wonder why a guy (Godin) can program an app which effectively gives us wireless while just hijacking the wifi connectivity, and not only Pimax seem to really struggle big time to give us wireless even when looking at adding a dedicated hardware module only for that purpose for hundreds of dollars.
I appreciate that Virtual Desktop tackles resolutions well below that of the Crystal, but even with such lower resolutions we never saw a proper wireless module for e.g. the Index (which, if it had existed, at the time would have probably tipped the scale for me to keep the Index and get rid off the Reverb G2).
so thanks to omniwhatever disabling HAM setting in pitool gives bit more fov,now i measure 104h and 104v,the improvement in vertical is quite noticeable
Would you say it comes with any downsides, or is the HAM somewhat aggressively cut for any good reason? (I.e. not only for saving cycles rendering that last 4h 8v degrees, that some users may not be able to get close enough to see anyway; But does it also reveal any optical abberrations at the edges?)
Disabling it not only increased my fov specially the vertical but fixed a bug in loading screens with a glitchy black flashy line on the right edge, weird.
120hz has artifacts when moving your head at least with the fiberoptic cable wich is the one i got,and with motion smoothing is like double images lol, pimax fix
60fps motion smoothed to 120 at 120hz should be nice in alot of games if it worked like on the 8kx or at least give us back the 75hz mode.
Hi,
Same here. On June 16, I received an email from Pimax with a FedEx tracking number for my Crystal
Today I checked on the progress of the shipment and saw that the shipping order was canceled. WHY???
I had pre-ordered on November 04 2022, and fully paid fo the Crystal on June 09, 2023…
What is the reason for canceling the shipment?
Did Pimax send you a notification about the shipment in the first place? Probably not. So don‘t be surprised if you don‘t get any communication about the cancellation either.
IIRC at the time when my Vision headsets shipped I would either get no notification of shipment at all or I had received the headset a couple of days before they notified me that they were going to ship it to me
I believe it has been mentioned in this forum that communication isn‘t Pimax’ strength… and the new Pimax is the old Pimax, nothing substantial has changed in their approach to things.
If I was in your shoes, I would be grudgingly content with the shipment being postponed because you know they haven‘t managed to get all features functional yet and once they ship your Crystal, all you can hope for is that they can resolve the remaining, apparently hardest challenges with changes to firmware/software alone. if not, you‘re screwed and only customers receiving theirs later will benefit from improvements of the hardware.
That‘s the risk of purchasing a device now while its development is still ongoing.
Did Pimax send you a notification about the shipment in the first place? Probably not.
Hi,
Actually they did. I received an email on 16 June from ecommerce@pimax.com saying that the shipping status has been updated. It then listed the contents of the shipment in Chinese and in English. They also provided me with a FedEx tracking number in the same email.
