If that is the case, a ruler to set the aggressiveness would make sense.

My email invitation to pay for the Crystal was sent to me by Pimax yesterday, I pre-ordered on day 3 (iirc Nov 5th), they said shipping would take 2-3 weeks. At this moment I’m not purchasing it, there’s too many features missing. I’ll wait to see how it develops.

Good DFR you will 100% not notice.
I use it extensively on my VR-3 via OpenXRToolKit and it’s flawless.

I‘d really appreciate a reply on this question from someone who already owns a Crystal.
If there is in fact no active cooling of the eye-box I‘d consider that so severe a design flaw that the Crystal as well as the 12K are immediate hard-passes for me.
I will never go back to foggy lenses and a hot face, comfort is what I appreciate the most by now when it comes to HMD choice once an acceptable optical performance is achieved.

You could also buy it, play around with it for a week and then put it on Ebay. There’s not even 1 Crystal for sale on Ebay and since there’s a few months waiting period, I’m pretty sure you could make some money there. Just an idea.
But yeah, other than that, there’s no way I’d buy it right now when they don’t even have lighthouse going. And the Bigscreen seems like the more interesting option anyway at this point.

not anymore since the new larger fov update for the beyond benefits only people with an ipd up to 70mm.

Yeh you’re probably right i could make some cash on it, also i have a $300 discount on it for helping them out with the website last year so even if i got back just the normal Pimax price i’d make 300. There was a new Crystal (opened but not used apparently) going for the Pimax price on Reddit the other day, it had quite a bit of interest. If they can get the wireless working well i may well buy it (for myself).

I have already commented on it…there is no active cooling…and the crystal screens get damn hot. I am really missing the active cooling solution the Varjo had.

lol yea I bought that one haha…drove the 40 miles to orlando to get it…then two days later got my pre-order ready to pay notice from pimax. But worth it in the sense that I got it a month earlier than I would have and it has glass lenses.

Well in that case I have lost all interest in this series of HMDs from Pimax. That is a spectacularly stupid oversight for a chunky HMD such as the Crystal/12k.
Well PImax quora did advise me to loosen the facemask a bit and that has helped. Just had the longest session in the unit and no fogging on my glasses.
Also, I will say the picture clarity, crispness and colors on the Crystal is fantastic. It is a very impressive headset…I can never go back to an index or quest 2, or reverb, etc, etc.

12k unless it changes is supposed to have active cooling.

I‘m glad you love it and I’m very happy that a product resembling the originally advertised feature set has apparently materialised.
It’s a very personal requirement to focus on comfort myself; I am simply not willing to do a sidegrade on clarity features whilst accepting lesser software and a downgrade in comfort.
This while not Crystal is nice.

Hello! I received my Crystal last Thursday (2 days ago) and unfortunately, it was with the plastic lenses. Coming from a Quest 2, I can say the image clarity is out of this world and I could never go back. But the plastic lenses suffer from terrible chromatic aberrations and I would say there is only 20% of the display (in the center) that is completely clean. I can’t wait to receive my glass lenses.
I mostly played MSFS and F1 2022 up to now, and it’s really jaw dropping (especially F1 2022).
