Pimax Crystal Light mouse stutter in BIOS and Linux. With fix

Hi all.

First post.

I’ve had the Crystal Light for a few months now and have been very happy with it, until I recently updated my PC.

MSI X870E Carbon Wifi

Ryzen 7 9850X3D

32GB 6000 RAM

MSI RTX5080 Ventus 3 OC

Everything was fine in Windows, but every 5 seconds in the BIOS or Linux (any flavor), my wireless mouse would freeze for a split second.

If I unplugged the PCL the issue would stop.

I’ve been round in circles for days trying various BIOS settings and different USB ports to no avail.

Even disabled the wireless and Bluetooth in the BIOS.

Today though, at the end of my tether, I decided to use one of the front USB 3.0 ports.

To my surprise, the issue disappeared.

I suspect that this is caused by all the rear ports being 10G and above. The front ports are only 5G.

This motherboard has 2x 20 pin front panel headers, so I’ve installed a pair of rear USB ports that connect to the right-hand connector on the motherboard. I found that the left-hand connector had the same issue.

I think this may be an edge case, but I thought I’d post this in case someone has this problem down the line.

Cheers.

Thanks for the heads-up!

I’ve encountered a similar issue before with my keyboard—switching to a different USB port resolved it for me.
