I recommend FishBiter’s quake VR
I prefer QuakeSpasm, which has colored lighting and other improvements. I use VorpX to play it in VR.
Thanks for the links Neal, gotta test that. Been awhile since I last time visited Dismal Oubliette or The Chambers of Torment
This would seem to be the case. I called NA support yesterday and got a shipping label today. Bravo! Keep up the goodwork
You’re welcome. I was truly surprised by how good Quake1 looks with colored lighting. Even though the monsters are very low poly, that doesn’t bother me all that much.
I had a great time, reliving the nostalgia. I first played Quake at 320x240. It looks so much better on a modern PC.
Yeah but FishBiters is actual VR and its based on Quakespasm, full motion controls VORPX cannot compete with that.
heres a link
Interesting, but I don’t have VR controllers, nor do I have a space for stand-up VR games. Can I still use a keyboard and mouse with FishBiters Quake version?
The SDL2 variant of Quakespasm supports Xbox 360 style game
controllers.
In fairness to 320x240, postage stamp resolution was always fine on a CRT, lol
I’m actually considering buying a CRT.so that I can get some extra life out of my 3gb 1060.
If I can play a game in 720p but have full motion resolution and zero blur at 160hz with max settings, its a win,
I enjoyed Doom shareware in a postage stamp resolution on my 386 PC ha ha. All the same, it was the most exciting thing I’d seen since BBC Elite.
Couldn’t hit much as I had to effectively snap-turn, which seems ironic in our current VR era
i never tried, it doesn’t support the correct button bindings fir index controllers yet. but i think wands and oculus touch works perfectly.
it might work with an xbox controller ill check and reply back later
oh and you can sit no issue there
Modern screens are getting better, but nowhere close as of yet. To compensate for the loss of motion resolution an LCD would need to be about 1000hz, to compensate for the way it draws an image
I never had an FW900, but boy oh boy would that have been a great display to own.
careful knowing pimax they’ll hear that and make a PimaxCRT edition
lol
LOL If it weren’t for the high voltage and being under a Vacuum, SED and FED technology (flat panel successors to CRT) would have been ideal for VR due to the absence of lag. Extreme low persistence.
In case someone is interested about the abbreviations you used.
thank you sir. I remember when I saw these in 08. I was so ready to buy one. The wallet was ready, and then poof. lol
Yeah best tech doesn’t always win the race.
It’s the best compromise that wins, like Val** I***x
