Yes Marco, or at least hopefully that is the aim of the developers group, unifying the required libraries used in VR development for any VR device, much like what DirectX and OpenGL/Vulkan did for 3D graphics.
The convenience and benefit are totally evident for VR, because there is currently a growing fragmentation in this regard that is only making a VR wide adoption difficult, plus creating problems for videocard drivers manufacturers, or worse create fertile ground for those wishing to implement proprietary and exclusive solutions, as Nvidia so much like to do and boast of it …
