I am an original Kickstarter backer who originally backed the 8K but downgraded to the 5K+ after reading the reviews/impressions about the 5K+ having better clarity due to the pixel arrangement.
I have received my 5K+ but it’s largely been sat in its box whilst I waited for the wireless module and eye tracking modules.
Then in December I decided to upgrade using Backer Upgrade Plan A + Plan E (Vision 8K X, Opt Out of All Your Stretch Goals Except Your Eye Tracking Discount, Full Package Upgrade (Headset & Controller & Base Station).
Has there been any clarity on:
process and timescale for returning my 5K+
Expected shipping date / shipping order for upgraded 8K X headsets
Expected shipping date for Plan E (Index Base Station and Controllers Add-ons)
process and timescale for buying the eye tracking modules using the eye tracking coupon I opted to retain.
Is that right? I hadn’t even realised - I had assumed that I would need to send the 5K+ back (i.e. in a similar fashion to 8KX users who got loaners).
Is there an official source for that somewhere? Pimax comms being as they are it’s difficult to find clear info (hence why I made this post in the first place).
Don’t suppose you know anything else about the other points do you? I am guessing that original 8KX backers will get their units first, followed by pre-order 8KX backers, followed by us upgraders.
Re: the Valve Index controller and base station add-ons, I would have thought they could ship these now, but maybe there’s a stock shortage brought about by HL: Alyx???
Yea, no need to return your 5k+. The returning thing was only if you backed the 8k X and got a loaned unit, you’d need to return the unit before getting your 8k X.
i) will those upgrading to the 8KX and Index Controller/Base Stations via the Backer Upgrade Programme get a free silicon protective skin (as new purchasers of the 8KX full package do)?
ii) Does the 8KX come with the Comfort Kit as standard, as the Pimax Store page for the 8KX seems to suggest it does?
iii) is there any info on when it will be possible to pre-order the eye tracking module, and if so how do we obtain and redeem the backer discount coupon?
