Notice: Upcoming Eye-Tracking Hotfix

Dear Pimax user,

We’ve identified an issue related to the eye-tracking service on the Crystal Super (micro-OLED) and Dream Air headsets — when using Pimax Play 1.43.7, or the open beta version of Pimax Play 2.0.

Eye-tracking works, but the calibration currently does not work and cannot be completed succesfully. If you encounter this bug, please wait for our hotfix which should arrive within 48 hours.

We will share the download link with you as soon as it becomes available.

Meanwhile, we’re happy to be in touch with you if you have any other questions or remarks. If so, just reply to this post.

Cheers,

Calvin@Pimax

This is also an issue with the OG crystal, will that be fixed too?

It shouldn’t affect the original Crystal.

Is the calibration also unable to be completed?

Also my UW Crystal has a change with the newest Beta, its has instable Eye Tracking, I need to restart Eye Tracking sometimes in the Settings, while the cams seems to disconnect

There is a temporary workaround while we work on a fix.
You can set your Windows system date to March 1st and restart Pimax Play—this should allow the calibration to complete successfully.

If revert to version 1.43.7, will this issue go away?

Just noticed a similar new issue as Nori too, on OG crystal, 2.0 beta. However i think its just the IR rings powering off as pointing the lens at a Lighthouse, i can see the IR pulses in Babble. Seems to be a degradation of the service over time, as when service/HMD is restarted its fine for maybe an hour but then turning ET off and on helps for ~10 sec at a time.

Have you tried reverting to v1.43.7?

If someone has an eye tracker 5 then this will cause this issue. You can’t have them both running at the same time.

Happens on 1.43.7 now. Hmm…

EDIT. I think it’s hardware. The LEDs no longer power on at all. This is upsetting.

Hmm, have you tried reseating the DP and USB cables?
Also, please check whether the Eye-chip and the Tobii service are running properly.

An internal build is currently available, and it resolves the calibration issue.

If you’d like to give it a try, please let me know.

This only affects the Super Micro-OLED and Dream Air models. If you’re using a different model, please disregard this message.

I’ve just installed the patch I received by email for the Dream Air.

The tracking calibration is working again, but eye tracking in MSFS 2024 no longer works.

I have a fixed view; I can see the square but it no longer tracks my gaze, and the colours look ‘washed out’ – I can see bands of colour within the square. Disabling tracking in MSFS 2024 makes my PC completely unstable in-game; I drop to 3 FPS and my PC crashes!

I didn’t have this issue before switching to this beta…

EDIT: Uninstalling PP using Revo Uninstaller and scanning for residual files.

Clean reinstallation of PP.

Tracking is working again in MSFS 2024, at least for now…

Good to hear it’s working again after the reinstall!

Fixed it, had to reseat the lenses a couple times, and the pogo pins under them were slightly bent for some reason. TY for the help :+1:

I’ve never been able to complete the eye tracking calibration using the OG crystal, ever, eye tracking works fine, but when I try to calibrate always fails after doing the test, also the test is some real sadistic stuff, putting me in pitch black then flash banging me with pure white and demanding I keep my eyes wide open to keep said eyes focused on the dots to finish is really stupid

 :joy: :smiling_face_with_tear: at the “flash banging”, but so so true. It’s almost like “Wait for it… Wait for it…. Wait - bang!” I have the CS and I’ve only done that calibration like about 4 times. If I ever get the inkling to “just check” - I think “yeah, right…”

I would like to give the internal build a try please!

The workaround seemed to work at first. But i could not log into DCS after that. So i turned the date back after i succesfully calibrated the eye-tracking. Went back to DCS and for like 10 minutes eye-tracking worked ingame. But then it just stopped. I think it was after i changed the brightness a bit in pimax play while playing the game. So i changed the date again tot 1 march, but his time that longer worked and i could no longer calibrate the eye-tracking.

Please check your DMs I’ll share the internal build with you so there’s no need to change your Windows date to complete the calibration.
