New pitool is up! Install new Nvidia drivers first!

it mean PVRHOME is still running. You have to kill the service in task manager.

Also my system seems a bit stuttering after the update, but not being able to go back prevents controlled tests. Elite Dangerous was perfect until the day before, now stuttering.

It’s possible the nVidia drivers are hosed. This has happened to me several times over the last few years.

Try this:

  1. Uninstall the nVidia drivers (Windows will then use the stock video drivers). Details as to how to do this are linked below.
  2. Reboot
  3. Install the latest nVidia drivers
  4. Reboot

Retest to see if things are now working properly. If this seems excessive, consider this: nVidia recommends that you always do a fresh install (really), even though their driver installer doesn’t do that. The problem is that sometimes the driver dlls wind up mismatched (some are 1 version and others are a different version).

“Driver files should always be uninstalled before updating to newer drivers or when removing an older NVIDIA card and replacing it with a newer card.”

was just updating and it bricked my unit ,crap

Yes, I do have to concur that there is something wrong with this new Pitool/Fw. There is clear stuttering even in Steamvr home as well as in games. Even if staying still and focusing on single spot there are clearly regular spikes visible in fpsVR as the fps fluctuates without any real reason. I downgraded to the latest beta and the stutter is actually present there as well but much less pronounced and when gaming you don’t really even notice it unless you really focus on it.

Extract the firmware from the version you want & flash headset like @IG88 said. After a successful flash the earlier pitool should work.

Though one might need to use @Sjef tool to do so.

Which headset? Backer?

Others have rebooted & firmware hss completed update.

Yes, but then I couldn’t use the new one anymore, so an A/B test becomes complicated.

I wouldn’t abusing the reflash function.

Can you find that for me? Ill be home in 3 hours and want to switch nack to firmware 103 beta. I installed the pitool but dont know hiw to revert the firmware.

All I can di is give you link. I would suggest extracting firmware & try havong 109 flash firmware than install 103.

I haven’t done it so it’s hypothetical.

Ok so basically extract the old firmware and run it. Then reinstall the older pitool that correspond with that firmware version? I mean in order for me to get the old firmware dont i have to install the older pitool first? This is without using the packer method.

running like crap for me. Screen now has a big judder, picture jumps every few seconds terrible and can’t roll back - old pitools not compatible with new firmware.

EDIT - working fine, just ONWARD is running like crap - it had a patch today, must be the problem

If you scroll up there a method to reverse the firmware

my problem exactly. Onward unplayable

Headset? Backer or pre order?

Not sure what games you tried, but Onward had a patch today and its unplayable for me. Everything else I tried is running great with the new Pitools though. Don’t think the problem is with the pimax, at least in my case.

Which headset did you receice? Backer or pre order?

As previously mentioned, I have uninstalled and reinstalled the NVIDIA drivers multiple times over multiple versions which did not resolve the issue.

From further investigation after the last reinstall attempt, I’ve gone through each setting in the NVIDIA Control Panel individually that I would normally set globally and tracked it down to the Antialiasing FXAA option in the NVIDIA Control Panel - turning this off specifically for PiTool fixes the window transparency.

Same here, since the update, I have got stuttering in game with my 5k+, even with 90 FPS. And I notice more distortion around the edge on even in small fov.
