I have just received my Pimax Super UW and got into my MSFS 2024 and started seeing jitters and Lag when I move my had despite that my FPS is high. These jitters are almost like double vision and has nothing to do with my hardware because no matter what resolution and settings I make I still get the same result. Some people say it might be due to tracking issue. I have a special infrared light just for this purpose on a well lit room . I have changed the Light frequency 60 to 50 or 50 to 60 with no result. I have 5090 ,Intel 13900K 64gb DDR5 Ram. So it is not a hardware issue I can assure you on my end. Anybody faced issues like this before with Pimax Super recently
It is not a tracking issue . It is smooth when I match the refresh rate but not even if I am 5 fps lower than my refresh rate let alone half the refresh rate.
Try cleaning all 4 cameras with a soft cloth. The cameras are tiny, so any fingerprints on them results with blurred vision. You can check how the camera sees around by enabling the passthrough camera. There must be enough contrast and sharpness in the image. The infrared lights you put might be so strong for the camera. If cleaning the cameras doesn’t help, try turning off the infrared lights. I had a similar jitter issue after updating Pimax Play to 14.3.3, but i think it was related with the cameras being dirty, because it resolved after cleaning. Lastly, check your computer for background processes which may temporarily use up your CPU resources which also might result in tracking issues.
It is not a tracking issue because as soon as my FPS reaches to refresh rate exactly that hitching is gone. Also halving the fps makes ghosting . I am not using any reprojection or smoothing just like the youtube creators. Thinking that it was my 13900k I have changed MOBO and my CPU to 9950x3d MSI Mag x870E Tomahawk Wifi and still have the same issue…
When I am under 72 like 50 -60 fps I get these jitters as if I am running 20 fps .
I have almost exactly the same hardware as you but better motherboard thinking that 13900k was the problem. I have spent 1000$ more to solve the issue and it is still there. When my FPS matches my refresh rate exactly the issue goes away if I am just below my refresh rate around 50 to 60 FPS I get this problem also if I’m halving my FPS I’m getting ghosting effect when I move my head around or if I turn the plane all the scenery looks ghosted. Also I want to add that my dynamic fov could not go over 25% if I set it to 30 to 50% my performance drops like crazy I go into 30 to 40 FPS territory. Can you tell me what does msfs 2024 reporting as the rendered resolution if you disable eye tracking because mine reports 6,200X5,800 despite that I set my resolution to 0.9 on the Pimax app… I’m trying to find if this is the main culprit. I get like 20fps if I do not use DFR… I ussed Process Lasso to make MSFS use only the first 15 cores made sure nothing else uses those cores…
It is not tracking . When the fps matches my refresh rate exactly the issue is gone. It starts happening with 50-60 fps . And halving without smoothing or reprojection causes ghosting effect
Ohhh. Uncheck smooth motion and half rate in the Pimax settings.
If that IS uncheck (both of them) then that is normal for VR as you cannot drop too far below panel rate before it will hitch. But the “reprojection” and weirdness is half rate, its dropping your frame rate to 45 whenever its goes under 68 or so…
Always keep in mind, you should always be getting the framerate of the hz of your panel or it will possibly not be smooth. This is not like flat screen where you can have varying FPS and still be “smooth”
As other users suggested, I forgot to mention that you have to turn off the displays in front of you, especially if they are mirroring the headset’s display, which inevitably confuses the inside out tracking which relies on fixed cue points. This also results with jitters as you described.
I really do not understand how does all the other youtubers get buttery smooth playback with 35-50 fps . They are not using reprojection and smoothing I saw their settings and when I asked them if it was actually smooth and if they were seeing any jittering or ghosting they said no. And when asked to GPT or Gemini whatever they say you can have a silky smooth play experience as long as you have steady frame times , this is where I lack. The times are all over the place for me Both Hwinfo and the debug fps shows my latency dancing around for some reason even if I lower every setting possible make the resolution to 50% and lock the frame rate to half , it never stays exactly half ,always dancing 2-4 fps downwards… When I move my head I see ghosting because of that…
I highly suggest the use of Process lasso and Parkcontrol. I have moved every process to the non x3d cache and only the game runs on the x3d. Park control makes sure that everything is unlocked and not set to any form of “park/freq limited” Also you can make sure that the game is locked to the x3d side.
All my Pimax software run on the non x3d side. This is why I never have tracking issues even if the game is super intensive.
I have already done that using Process Lasso thanks to Gemini suggesting me As a last resort I will try different ram speeds because apparently DDR5 6400 might be causing latency. Somebody said lowering it to 6000 helped them… All the pimax apps and servers are running on 16-31 and MSFS on 0-15
It is not a tracking issue brother like I said already couple of times it is smooth when I match the FPS to the Refresh rate… And I have already assigned my game to the ^d cores but did not help with hitching when it is below the refresh rate…
