It was probably because we were not flying in the central parts of California (far from San Fransisco and LA). On low altitude (2000 feet and less), these forest-textures are quite low-res. I wanted to keep full frame rate of course, especially running on the constantly overheating PC on VR Days and also on my 2080 laptop. But some people flew over central San Francisco during VR Berlin, upon request, and the scenery over there was more detailed.
It kills the O+. Regarding 4K, I never got the chance to try it And I totally forgot when I was in Shanghai heh… I will ask the team to send me a 4K for comparison.
FYI, 8KX has heatsinks inside. Its a different PCB and chipset compared to 8K+.
The issues in Berlin were not caused by the headsets. It was electrical spikes. But we have already confirmed long ago (back in Shanghai) that the 8KX needs extra protection for voltage, which is now added in the latest PCB and cable being hard-tested in Shanghai atm. Although we dont have thayt version here during the EU trip.
It’s great, I have not tried O + myself yet, it’s somewhere on the way from America at a ridiculous price of $ 229, it’s just interesting to look at the anti-SDE, which everyone praises.
Wait, you said heatsinks ? So it will cool better than 8K +. This is just great
P4K is similar to the 8k but a bit sharper, with the same pixel matrix.
Actually when I first put eyes in 8k after the 4k I was…surprised.
But O+ might have better sde.
Not sure everyone understand difference between resolution, sharpness and SDE yet.
8K+ doesnt get as hot as 8KX, so it doesnt need heatsinks.
December, I have not heard about any delay.
Minimal difference, at least nothing you will notice. maybe 50 grams at most? Its thin heatsinks, it fits into the same housing of course
Wait, I thought 4K had RGB pixel matrix panels? If not, then 8KX and 8K+ has definitely less SDE.
O+ has definitely not better SDE than 8KX nor 8K+. You really need to work hard to see any kind of pixel pattern. I can assure you, you will never see it while playing or working in VR, unless you stare and really try hard to look for i, but there is no risk you will see it while enjoying VR.
Of course, some ppl mix up these terms.
Panel resolution is same on 8KX and 8K+.
Input (rendered) resolution is 1.5 X higher on the 8KX and sent natively.
8KX and 8K+ has same SDE.
8KX is sharper because it does not downscale+upscale the image from 1440p to 4K as 8K+ does.
Could you measure the temperature of both?
For me, the issue of heating is very important.
For example, my 8K was warming somewhere up to 42-43 degrees in the hottest place on top of the housing (where the cable is output) during intense gameplay (measured with a pyrometer).
For me, such a heating is acceptable.
Will 8K X in “8K+ mode” be heated similarly to 8K +, or is it hotter anyway??
In Pimax 4K, the structure of pixels is a rainbow RGB.
It differs from PenTile 8K.
Oh, sorry they have changed it maybe? Didnt know about this but the one I had was not RGB.
And I sincerly hope (and actually I know lol) the 8k’s Visions have better than that !
I think to explain people how to understand SDE is to explain that SDE is only the space between pixels. It could have 10x10 pixels but spaced by 1cm each give big SDE and the same 10x10 pixels with 1mm space between them the square is the same resolution but less SDE.
