From what we know you can’t compare the G1 vs the G2 it’s news lens set, resolution wise both the 8K-X and the G2 has about the same theorical resolution. you will have to wait a review of the final units
Gotcha… yeah, the OG Reverb isn’t good for people with higher IPD
Yes, I’m sure the G2 will be better than the G1, but already the G1 was the highest clarity of any other headset I have tried
Nice so we will have another review of the G2 from you!
Well the G2 hardware mechanism only goes to 68. I have exactly the same IPD as @mr.uu, 69.5 so I’m wondering how good that will work. MRTV said he thinks it should be no problem, but I don’t know. Actually that’s now become my main reason that I haven’t cancelled my 8k-X yet… If the IPD is a problem (eye strain after some time) then it’s good to have the 8k-X for sure! I had several issue’s with my 5k+ but eye strain never has been one of them.
I said already that i do not feel a big difference in colors to index, 8k or 5k+. Of course oled is better. But i am happy with it.
I own and used Dk1(incl. RiftUP! 1080p Panel)/2/CV1, Odyssey/+, Index, pimax 4k, 8k, 5k+, 8kX, avegant glyph, antVR, Vive/pro(gearVR lens mod), and my entry into VR was the io-glasses and Gfx/1 old vga glasses…
is your IPD symetric?
Yeah I think we’re all different in our color sensitivity. I’ve read people who said 5k+ colors are better than the index, others said worse, others said 8k+ has better colors than the 5k+, others said worse. My personal experience is that the index has quite a bit better colors than the 5k+, I find them too dull. That’s why I’m a bit worried that I’ll find the 8k-X colors too dull too… But I’ll guess I’ll just have to wait and see for myself.
Yeah it is. 20chars 20chars
For now only Sebastien, praise the color and brightness of the G2 let see what the final units look like. But we have to remember that this LCD like the OLED one on the starVr is made for VR so maybe manufactures have done optimization not possible on other LCD for cellphone like ( I presume) the one in the 8K+ and 8k-X
±0.75 mm missing in each direction maybe ;-?
Honestly i think it is all very subjective. For myself, i can destinguish between oled and lcd panels but i could not tell you which lcd panel is which. Kinda reminds me on tasting wine. Sure red/white is to destinguish, but red and red or white and white is where it becomes really difficult and personal preference
Hehe I’d have to analyse photos in detail, never paid much attention to it, but if there’s an asymmetrie it’s small. But I don’t think that would make the G2 better. I think it depends on the sweetspot of the lenses. I guess I’ll just have to find out myself again
Sure? Sh*t. My ipd is 69.5 and non symmetrical. 34.5/35mm. Maybe i should not buy a G2…lets wait for the reviews
Yeah been thinking about it lately and it’s a bit of a gamble. So IF it ends up to be a problem, then I’d regret having cancelled my X preorder for sure. So I’ll just keep both preorders in, then let the headset battle take place at my house and then the loser goes onto Ebay
He said he can’t distinguish between LCD panels, not that he couldn’t distinguish between oled and lcd
The brightness is reduced by HP for the final version.
The colors will then automatically fade…oups
I bet they’ll end up making it user configurable, like in the Index and Pimax headsets
Ho! I read the “can” has a “can’t” ;-0 ok the world keep turning on the right side
The old Reverb has an thermal problerm at higher brightness …The Displays are the same… or not?.
