MRTV Subjective FOV Comparison

I couldn’t get much edge distortion. it was too blurry.

I think that‘s probably a quite good observation - I am not sure he actually is a real gamer. I don‘t mean to be dismissive, but I use VR devices to game, not play games to use VR devices. And that means I actually focus on the game more than all sorts of specs. Which gives me a different perspective than I see him apply occasionally…

But what are you speaking about …:grin::grin:

In the first pitools the image of the periphery was not blurred; it only “folded back” in the last degrees, so that blurriness should also be eliminated. Same displays, same lenses.

Also some use Large FOV for some games and Normal FOV for more demanding titles… that’s mean 160 exist and many folks like it. From my personal expirence 30% of my sims run in Large and 70% in Normal. But when 3080ti will hit the shelves and VRmust deliver my vrframe for pimax than it can be 50/50 or better

it would be new to me that the reverb uses pitool

I’m always using Large. :smirk:

How distracting are the distortions? From a scale of 1 to 10?

In game? 0.5

When looking a one side or the other? 7 In game 8.

I guess you are not wearing glasses for VR

I used 5k+ with comfort kit one time at friends racing simulator. I didn’t focus on distortions first 20 minutes and just enjoyed wide FOV. Then I was thinking what’s the big deal about distortions and started to look for them, then I found this fishbowl effect and I saw it next 5 minutes, then I got immersed again and didn’t notice it till the end of the session. So for me in game it could be 1 - 2 for me. But it was just short test in racing seated game, for room scale, it might be different.

No, I’m not using glasses for VR. I’m lucky for the moment.
As the rest of the Spanish testers know, I don’t just see the SDE, but even its form. I’m sure I will see the 8KX SDE as I saw SDE with the HP G1. It’s small, but it’s there.

in game menus 5 but during gameplay 1
I guess you scale mean 10= very distracing 1 = not at all

imho, I also do not find the distortion at all „distracting“ (have issues with overall geometry though)
But I also find the distorted area way less usuable than the rest. More like a better ambi-light effect.

Because it’s also blurry. But I think that blurriness is for disguise the distorsion.

It is not SDE, it is a pixel
SDE is the space between the pixels

I made a poll here

No, in the Pimax 8K I could see the form of the SDE like a black inverted “L” it has more SDE at the botton right of the pixel.
