Parallel projection check, Fov normal or large, Hidden Area Mask, Rendering Quality 1.5, 1.75, 2.0… C´mon! We have a beautiful tab called My Games, where we just have to click and run the game, why can’t we save a .ini configuration file per game with fov, rendering quality and parallel projection check, etc. so we don’t have to change the options every time?
I don’t think it’s a very complicated feature to implement, on the other hand can bring many benefits for future buyers, making the hmd more user friendly.
What do you think? @PimaxVR
Absolutely, all custom settings should be able to be set and saved per game. Especially with the frequency options being looked at too 60hz, 72hz, 80/90hz.
.ini is fine, but most of the custom settings should still be able to be set via the launcher (like an advanced settings on each app/game).
Indeed, totally forget new 60hz/72Hz options. If any of these options involve restarting pitool, it should also do so automagically and then run the game. No harm to the casual users (a lot of benefits for power users too).
What we need is an external access to Pi Tools settings (API or command line). Then it opens many ways to achieve what we need, from simple batch to Steam VR Overlay like the one used by ReVive
I think they have plans for this eventually. i certainly think that it would be a mandatory function for the headset for consumer/ non-enthusiast use. to have settable profiles or automatically set profiles.
focus right now seems to be on performance enhancements, brainwarp , spacewarp etc, and honestly in a limited manpower situation i wouldn’t want those people working on anything else right now.
I could be wrong, but I thought I saw someone state that you can’t even use the Pimax without the Peetool… (ever since that Calvin and Hobs cartoon, it will be the Peetool for me!)
For this reason I suggested to open only an API or a command line, intending that initially the configuration scripts would be from community. Easy task for both sides
We need EVERY SINGLE PERFORMANCE MEDIATING TECHNOLOGY, NUMEROUS OPTIONS, SPACEWARP, BRAINWARP, BRAINOVERDRIVE, FIXED FOVEATED SUPERSAMPLING, SHADER REPROJECTION, ALTERNATE FRAME RENDERING, ONE GPU PER EYE, POSITIONAL REPROJECTION, BILLBOARDING, PER GAME CONFIGS WITH HUNDREDS OF SETTINGS, PITOOL NEEDS MANY SETTINGS. I can keep going…
Not a joke, we really do need this stuff.
