Just to be clear, do you have both eyes simultaneously in the center of the sweet spot of each lense? If not, this is what I’m referring to. If so, then there was ludicrous variance in manufacturing tolerances that should worry pimax.
I’m not sure how relevant that question is. In real life my eyes have slightly different acuity. In the 8kx the image is clear regardless of whether I have one or both eyes open . Is that what you mean?
I think what he means is, Are you able to get each eye aligned indivually with the sweetspot.
But since you say you can close each eye and the image looks sharp then I think you’ve answered the question.
Unfortunately, I think that Pimax’s definition of “sweet spot” differs from that of many of its users.
The sweet spot of the headset is large (compared to most other VR headsets), but because the screens are angled, I think Pimax’s engineers have tried to get the largest viewing area as possible in focus. This means: (1) your eyes are not intended to be in the center of the Fresnel pattern and (2) the area directly in front of you is not quite as crisp as the area just to the sides. This is because the central area is angled further away from your eyes. If that area was crystal clear, the overall sweet spot of the headset would be much smaller.
Personally, this isn’t an issue for me, but I know it bothers others. I wear glasses with progressive (multifocal) lenses, so I’m used to having portions of my vision which aren’t quite in focus.
