Is it just me or has it been slower around here for for the last 6 months?

This will be our biggest event in company history. Unfortunately Martin and I (we both have valid Chinese visas but all travel from europe and the usa to china is suspended right now, the company even hired specialists to try to negotiate) will not be doing the presentations. We will probably do a livestream after to answer the many questions that will certainly arise.

Seems like Pimax is growing. That’s very good for making sure decent VR hardware is available in quantity for a big future.

I totally get not wanting to unveil too much early, but might we see this big event before the end of the month?

If it’s another headset with stuff like better lenses or integrated ET I’m gonna kick myself because I just got the 8k X 2 and a half months ago.

finally you started to agree that this headset despite resolution has so many things done wrong for daily usage entertainment/work applications

Yup, VR continues to be a compromise game.

Alas, nobody does it better than Varjo right now, so there’s that.

Did I ever claim otherwise? Still it’s my daily driver and the best headset money can buy right now and I’m really enjoying it, just like I felt the Index was the best back then and very much enjoyed using it. Then the Pimax 5k came out, that didn’t do it for me, but the 8k-X was actually another step forward and became my daily driver until an even better headset, the VR3 came out. Still, just like all those other headsets it has it compromises.

If Pimax comes up with an even better headset (and they might just do that if they indeed managed to upgrade the lenses), I’d switch back to Pimax in a heartbeat! Unlike some other people here, I am not married to a certain brand and actually couldn’t care less about brands, I just always want the best VR experience that money can buy. And BTW, I’m 100% sure that the new pimax headset will have its own downsides. It will take a few generations before we really have a ‘near perfect’ headset, also because we need much, much faster GPU’s. But that’s ok. VR currently already is pretty awesome.

Yep. Nothing but the sound of crickets around here.

Much like my life lately: Work, home maintenance, and yard work. I haven’t ridden my bicycle, nor played in VR for a couple of weeks now. I have managed to assemble a jigsaw puzzle in spare moments, but that’s about it.

It’s really been a slow news day in VR for a long time now. Being a VR YouTuber is quite the commitment and it’s hard to find new topics to cover when there’s not much new.

I figured as much. Miss the updates maybe you can cover the sword controllers or the DMAS headphones vs VR Ears and Index.

Edit: Are you backing the Lynx R1?

I’m just trying to get my motivation back for VR. I’ve been focused on school, some pet projects, and doing freelance work that makes a living. But I will probably make a video within the next week.

No, I’m not backing the Lynx. I’m no longer spending any more money on VR then I already have. So I will resort to asking companies for review units.

Wait so you bought the Varjo-Vr3 . No wonder the VR coverage slowed down then…

Interesting. I just ordered an 8K X as un upgrade to my 5K+, but I ordered through Amazon so in case things don’t work out well for me I can return the product easily.

My impression, until I ran across this thread, was that the big Pimax announcements were related to the bundles and pricing.

Any more news?

My IPD is 58. The 8KX looks fine to me. For flight and driving sims it’s fantastic! So not everybodywith an IPD under 65 is ‘screwed’. But Amazon is a pretty good choice for any purchase- I do like their return policy.
Banggood’s really impressed me too- they looked after me really well. But purchases from them take a long time to get to Canada.
