So I’ve been using pitool at Normal FOV with iRacing for a while.
I noticed that if I switch to Large FOV before starting SteamVR, the resolution gets way out of whack and goes to 6949 x 3291
Normal FOV looks fine and it’s at 3852x3291, but the jump to 6949 causes everything to get out of whack…
Now, if I switch to Large FOV from Normal FOV, while SteamVR is on, it just extends the view left and right like normal.
What’s going on with that? Is this normal?
Using Pitool .95 and steamVR 1.2.10 (current version)
SteamVR SS 100%, PiTool 1.0, and iRacing pixel density 100%

I found that iracing in single seaters had really bad clipping making large fov a none starter. Normal seems to work well and is just outside of where the clipping starts.
For me large works fine, if I change it mid-game while SteamVR is open. If I restart steamVR, Change to Large FOV, the fov is way too high at 6949 x 3200 or so
thats not the same as large fov, the corners just change from round to straight.
I did this and it got the values stuck at some ridiculous resolutions again 6949x32xx.
Yes that happens when I change it to Large FOV mid-game in iRacing, but if I set Large FOV from the start, it blurs everything and sets SteamVR SS resolution to 6949x3200 if I keep it at 100% SS (as I did with Normal FOV)
So are you saying if I restart iRacing and set Large FOV, the view is actually wider than changing it while in the middle of the iRacing app being open?
I didnt notice a difference in the FOV, although I did notice jagginess/blurriness, and the SteamVR SS was 6949x3200 at 100% SS.
Do you use iracing by any chance?
yea i do, you have to set the ResolutionScalePct in renderdx11.ini to over 200% for it to look good again.
but with large fov the ui is too much in the middle and you cant drag the boxes down
So what’s the point of going to Large FOV, causing it to go to 6949x3291 in SteamVR Resolution, if it cant be used in iRacing. I’d rather keep everything at 1.0/100%/Normal FOV
Is the ResolutionScalePct the UI Zoom scale that’s in the Graphics settings? That scale only goes to 200%, which is what i use to see the text normally, but when i tried to go to Large FOV, the UI shrinks back to as if it was at 100% and very tough to read also.
no its supersampling from the game, under openvr
Oh ok, ye I leave that 100 usually under Normal FOV, and pitool 1.0, steamVR 100%.
So you’re saying to get Large FOV working, The renderer number has to be 200?
So you keep SteamVR SS at 100% and PiTool 1.0? Or have you figured out a way to keep the boxes/UI sized correctly in iRacing.
no ui is small, i ment you have to use like 200-275% to get rid of the jaggies when using large fov. game wont start anymore at 300% though lol
just wanted to mention that real large fov is a bit wider than just changing from normal
I get it now. So you set renderscale under the rendererdx11 file to 200-275 and it looks fine with Large FOV, and it comes out wider than just resetting the FOV from Normal to Large while it’s running (where it squares the edges out a bit more from the Normal FOV)?
Is that what I’m understanding? Do you use Normal FOV or Large FOV yourself?
first days i used large because i like even the little bit fov it adds, but the ui bothers me so i used normal last time
