Pretty cool indeed

It’s a really complex piece of engineering and seems quite fragile in places.

Yeah they have a lot crammed in there. Be interesting to compare the Sword controller… especially to see if it indeed has inert cap sense components.

Since pimax never even let the beta group try it out as originally advertised they would get to preview it. Though no real surprise they didn’t follow through and ended up ignoring all feedback on them

I was tempted to pull apart one of my sword controller as the trigger are problematic but I kinda like them as a curiosity.

The cap sense on index seems to be divided into multiple zones. Tgo’s etee controller with its intelligent sensing material was completely superior to Valve’s solution and also wouldn’t break down over time.

Some more…

Yeah Etee definitely seems much better. What is the mod you have on it. Looks like the clip on for the tracker needed to be modified?

Yeah the sword are a nifty curiousity. Sorry to hear about the trigger. @light Sword controllers the triggers were so bad they only worked upsidedown. :picardfp:

Pimax was well aware of the trigger issue and released it anyway. @jamejame demonstrated on their channel just how sensitive the triggers are. Even adding a deadline control would have fixed that.

The mod made the etee “finger bar” fully adjustable for different hand sizes, finger length, etc.

The black knob is loosened allowing adjustment (rotation and depth) before tightening which locks it off.

I also modded the cushion so it was adjustable as part of the ergonomics improvements.

This was prior to the 6DoF tracker being released I was lent 1/6 prototype for assessment

The stock bar actually snapped during testing as it was much too tight for my fingers causing the plastic to fatigue and fail.

Their material sensing technology was absolutely stunning, but clamping the controller to the proximal phalanges was just really weird, the controller would “roll” inwards when closing the hand changing the distance to the trackpad on top :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

That is quite cool. One issue I suspect with Etee controller might be first person shooters. I think the controller will bounce maybe a bit in the hand simulating pressing trigger

Has the forum update broken images?

the images are still present. but with pinax deciding on a whim to change the domain from “communjty.openmr.com” to “forum.openmr.com” it has broken the image links. this will also break topics links posted in other topics.

I have been discussing with the team about reverting the url back.

The last time they did was changing “.ai” to “.com” I spent a lot of time fixing most of the links. it was not a good experience.

i have explained that there is no benefit to this latest url change. it is fine to want to reinvest getting this forum modernized to hopefully resurrect it. But a url change only creates a lor more. work taking focus off of value added improvements to fix something that shouldn’t have been changed.

Hopefully the upper management can see that change is counter productive and will only hinder progress.

It’s also broken Google search it cannot find the new URL but always the old URL which has an outdated security certificate?

How many users are going to assume the website has expired

the site ssl on the old url is broken due to the url change. Depending on if a site is using a domain provider ssl(can be needlessly expensive) or setting one up through Let’s encrypt.

a Domain server ssl I believe may also use Lets encrypt but they do the work of having it applied to the domain root and all sub domain names.

The forum software has an option ti setup the ssl. but it is only applied to url of the forum.

But yeah in this case not good at all…

Google will have no indexing of content on the fresh domain which of course also affects searchability making it hard for pol to “discover” the site. We had this sane issue with the .ai to .com change.

When doing a domain name change (even a seemingly minor change) a best practice is to forward thr old domain to the new one. And announce the change in the site. This ensures ppl can still access the site and gives tine for google to build a new index.

also announcing the change as well. Sone will do a permanent reditect or a temporary one.
