Are you a ks backer?
Do you truthfully use an adhesive seal to attach it to the lenses? What happened to modular design and it would be usable on all my pimax headsets? If I install it on my 5k+ then upgrade to a 8KX how do I do that? Does it come with a 5 pack of adhesive? This thing is looking like a recipe for disaster. “WOW”
Cyanoacrylate instant adhesive is generally your best bet for rubber bonding; epoxies are not usually recommended – rubber is easily peeled off. Cyanoacrylate adhesive cures in seconds so you can find out pretty quickly whether it is going to work or not!
But… its really rubber, or is a kind of Silicone coating?
Cyanoacrylate is the best way to leave permanent damage. Good choice.
The simplest way is hot glue., But on the rubbish housing?!? Hmm, i dont know… maybe
And it won’t bond well with most plastics.
But make a beautiful rough surface for eternity. xD
Also really good for all sort of lenses, for a nice opac sight.
As I said, Found in Internet.
I am fairly certain that either @SweViver or @PimaxUSA said that you could either use the adhesive or not when installing the eyetracker. I forget where I saw/heard it at now.
You can use it on all Pimax headsets.
Technically they never said you can interchange it effortlessly once fitted.
Try not to worry though, as the poster above me mentioned, adhesive may be optional.
This morning I received the ordered 2080Ti and put it on. The 8KX is working properly.
I haven’t got a driver for eye tracking yet, so eye tracking isn’t working.
Now that I can check the FFR option, I tested it with some titles.
ETS2,ACC,VirtualDesktop,DCS
I couldn’t clearly determine if FFR was working. Only with DCS, the area around the field of view may be slightly dot-like.
It seems that the titles that can get the effect of FFR are limited, so I would like to get a list of valid titles.
And then, I began to feel annoyed by the eye-tracking glass surface. The light of the HMD was slightly reflected by about 3%, which caused a ghost. It also has some influence on chromatic aberration and blur.
That may be one of the reasons why it was difficult for me to find the effect of FFR today.
If the game titles that FFR can use are limited, I guess DFR is the same.
Also, the processing performance of FFR and DFR is almost even, isn’t it?
If FFR works effectively on 8KX, I lose the reason to use DFR with eye-tracking.
So I want to test FFR with eye tracking off now.
The base of the silver ring with the seal cannot be removed, but the module can be removed.
You can order multiple base rings only.
The parts should be mass-produced and not expensive.
Glad you got the headset and are enjoying it.
Maybe the Eyetracking isn’t seated properly, it sounds like there might be a gap somewhere?
Did you use the adhesive option?
I would imagine before fitting Eyetracking we should now all wait for a proper installation guide with text and arrows/diagram etc.
I thought I had seen some video that said it would be very easy to put in, just insert it in the USB (Uh-oh) with a click and it would be magnetically held.
But it was also said that the cable would be a temporary solution.
The module is held by four protrusions with a size of 1-2 mm. Can you see it?
One protrusion on the left side is broken and sometimes comes off unexpectedly.
I have nothing to say.
It is designed to move with the IPD and affect a horizontal force.
You should never touch it.
And you still haven’t been able to test whether the lower quality part is visible with DFR, whether the lights are annoying, etc.
I never use the FFR, I see too much the lower quality areas in all cases; maybe your FFR doesn’t work?
The adhesive for the lenses seems to ne a black tacky like substance.
Crazy glue and alot of cement adhesives will fog clear plastics.
Not good design for sure.
Hi Martin, do you plan to show a guide on your channel on how to take advantage of the PIMAX 8KX?
For some reason I thought the module attached via magnets and not adhesive?
