Extending length of standard 8kx cable?

Hi I just bought a 8kx and was wondering if its possible to extend the length of the cable using a dp female to female coupler and another dp cable? If so does it effect performance? And can the extra length cause latency? already have an extra 9 ft dp cable. hoping to save money from buying the 6m fiberoptic cable. Below is a link to the coupler. Thanks

I’ve done a bit of investigative work on this topic:
https://community.openmr.ai/t/8kx-extension-cable-options/32137

I ended up with the following combo:
Lindy 38415 DP Repeater
Supra 8K60Hz DP cable

I would first try a good quality 5m cable and see if the passive coupler works well enough for You.

It seems to boil down to the signal strength on Your GPU and quality of cable/repeater basically.

Works for some, doesn’t for others but for me the Lindy repeater has been rock solid for a long time.

The YIWENTEC optical cable I initially used with it no longer works (I would guess due to using bad quality converters internally?) but the copper Supra cable works perfectly.

I have never used the Pimax optical cable. Only their standard cable.

I have not had luck using female to female connectors with the default cable, with the pimax fiber cable the one you linked is the exact one I use with a 20 fiber dp cable with no issues

Something to consider is that Pimax’s fiberoptic cable isn’t merely longer than their standard cable. It is also substantially thinner, lighter, and more flexible. That makes more of a difference than you might expect. It improves the VR experience a little, pushing it in the direction of wireless feel by making the cable less present and distracting.

Even an active Display Cable extension failed for me
