I first cut off the pivot’s on both sides. Their is a crease so you can make a score and cut them there.
I then un-screwed the connectors ends from the cloth velcro straps
I then took the straps and used the ends as a template on what i needed to cut in the new strap arms.
i outlined the cuts in the new strap arms.
i then cut the excess off. this allowed the protruding part to fit inside the Pimax connector. Make sure you get the right and left side correct before you cut .
i placed the connector on the new strap arms and then used a small drill bit with my fingers to drill small holes in strap arms. i started the holes with the connector on, but then removed the connector to fully drill so i did not drill out the connector screw threading.
i then put connectors on straps and screwed them in.
Now that i have this i am going to 3d print a little holder for the cable junction box and glue that to the back of the strap. this will allow me to snap in the junction box and keep it from hanging.
I’ll post the 3d files tomorrow after i draw them up and finish.
Hope this helps
NOTE: the headset does come with a little screwdriver that fits the connector screws too.
ok not the prettiest, but works. Here are pictures of the 3d printed part i made to hold the junction box. i JB welded to the strap. included are STL files if anyone wants. i used a stain releaf on the cable because i didn’t want it pulling.
Can you clarify this a bit. Do you need to cut anything on the Dream Air strap? Or just unscrew things on that strap? Looks like a nice mod, thanks for sharing
You only cut the plastic Amazon strap, then screw on the connectors.
Make sure you align the connectors to the right side before you drill the holes . I almost put them backward. not sure it matters if the holes are symetric but just incase check first
