No idea. Have you run TaskManager to verify that nothing unexpected is running in the background? You should verify that “Pimax VR Home” is disabled; it has a bug which will tie up one core at 100% usage.
I couldn’t ever get Dirt Rally to perform well with my Vive so I gave up and uninstalled it months ago. Then last night whilst loving the new Assetto experience in large FOV on the 8k I wondered whether it was worth giving DR another bash. Will be watching this thread to see how get you get on.
Which works for me - I haven’t tested with the newest beta PiTool, but the current official one worked for me. It’s not at 90hz but it was playable - head movement was stuttery but not due to FPS.
I will test tonight with the beta and ffr on (etc.) and post the experience.
Had this going for one session. And it was great. Restart pc all gone to shit. I’m finding you can’t have two installs of steamvr. Doesn’t matter where you install them the new openvr always seems to run. As I have advanced vr settings installed I know when the old openvr runs as I get an warning that advance settings doesn’t support old openvr.
I deleted the newer version of steamvr, deleted the entire folder, and replaced it with the one you have to download from the link above. Still laggy mess
I7 8700k as well. It was late december, probably pitool .76. I was dissapointed becouse this game was sharper on my OG vive with gearVr lenses and perform stable 90 fps
Really good performance actually. I’ve played the game in VR since early 2017 with no issues. With the 5K+ I’m using 72Hz so I can up some graphics I was never able to use before(like ground cover in Finland). Smart smoothing OFF. Normal FOV. Consider lowering your SS (SteamVR I keep at around 3000px horizontal. MSAA in-game to 2X or less (CAA or off to fix some lag issues). Ground cover low/off, shaders low (ultra low looks like crap). Shadows low or off. Crowd low or off. One thing that seemed to help is keeping anisotropic filtering to Ultra. I believe I was getting more lag if it was lower.
I tested dirt rally, too last week.
Installed oculus software, kopied two dlls in the dirt folder, deinstalled oculus software.
Performance was terrible. Optically disappointing, just stutter.
Installed after wasting two hours with that vr unfriendly (oculus money smelling piece of s…, same will happen with the successor unfortunately) good old RBR with openvr mod 1.5 and had fun for hours trying to finish driving school. Performance was rock solid maxing 80Hz, physics was amazing. Never felt such a desire to practice for better car control. I need a good Handbrake now!
Hmm I was never able to get RBR working on the 5K+. If I enabled PP, the game wouldn’t see a headset. If I disabled it, I could get into a game but I’d have the double-vision. Wonder what I’m doing wrong. @mr.uu
Maybe I’ll reinstall. I added some mods that may have made it not work. Are you saying don’t patch to 1.02? The patch is in my folder. I thought we had to do it. @mr.uu
