Crystal Light cable extension

Since retiring my original Crystal (nearly 3 years of faithful service :folded_hands:) I’ve been using my Crystal Light as my daily driver.

However I always found the tether a little too short for my play space, I measured 4.4 metre from the DP /USB end to the tether where it leaves the back of the headset - approximately 10cm seems to be used between the headset socket and routing through the harness to where it leaves the very rear

The tether is also a little stiffer than many PCVR headsets, exacerbating the effect of the shorter length.

To protect my motherboard from socket damage and add some important length I picked-up a 8K DP extension and USB 3 extension both 1.5 metre giving a total of 5.9 metre which feels really good and has transformed the room scale play

I previously (with Index and original Crystal with the 6.5 metre fibre optic tether) had my PCVR rig sitting outside my room with the door closed and the tether neatly passing under the door. With the standard Crystal Light tether I had to sit my PCVR inside the play space introducing noise, heat and accidental collision.

Now I’m back to nearly 6 metre it feels great as there is much less influence on the headset and I can push my PCVR back outside my room and shut the door :+1:

The only thing to resolve now is extending the power supply as the Crystal PSU has a very short lead and I had to daisy chain a single socket extension which isn’t ideal.

It’s 12v 2a 24watt and I thought my spare Index PSU might work as similar specs but the barrel jack is slightly different.
