Mark my words its past the point of testers input… This will be a quick demo on whatever they want to show you.
5-10 min slots, do you think your going to have time to boot a certain chosen game - no chance

Playing golf…badly
When I recived email I though why we cant organize this in different way , first of all I expected kind of
meetup agenda like:
AM x:x - Q&A with Pimax
PM x:x - Q&A with Youtubers/Testers (M1/M2 opinions if NDA lifted)
PM x:x Game this and this
Evening xx Pimax Team /Testers & Backers go out together for adult bear
Seriously for 10 minuts is hard to decide and travel 5h or more.
I’m disappointed that team is taking only 3 devices , I expected 5 or more units, . I know bagage can be heavy but we can help here bring own laptops/ desktop PC / acessories instal PiTool and test our own games.
Why selecting games is taking so long ? We need honest feedback about current progress not marketing show. We already invested and now investing even more ( travel cost & time) so @deletedpimaxrep1 and team please re-think all that meetup idea.
correction 2) PM - Q with Youtubers/Testers due to NDA
This is unclear. Is that three 8K’s and three 5K’s or could it be two 8K’s and one 5K?
3 Machines is a tiny demo. Why not bring more HMD’s and setup empty tables for backers that are willing to bring their own computers? This is a private backer meetup and not a show stand after all.
Great. Totally agree.
Why? Why is this taking so long as to be ominous,
If trying to track in the same space then v2 base stations have better support for multi-user play spaces don’t they?
Any prototype accessories that you will also bring?
That is not very long at all. It can take 3 mins to launch a game and get going in it so that leaves you with 120 seconds to test the HMD assuming a 5 min demo.
Will you also bring large hooked up displays so that those waiting before or after a demo can at least watch what others do?
Will the demo space be open-plan, maybe 3 sided booth style or do you plan to lead each backer into a private room?
Cheers
If you can compare to other headset’s at the meeting does that mean additional setups ?
@deletedpimaxrep1: can I ask you WHY you are organizing this backer meetup? If it’s to let backers decide if the HMD is good enough for release then you should certainly agree that it’s IMPOSSIBLE to conclude this within 5-10 minutes? Like some have pointed out, even booting/starting a game can take minutes.
You said you were producing 200+ HMD’s, why not take some more, get some gaming laptops (even borrow them from employees, friends, whatever, even rent them for a few days if you need to) so that backers can have some more time? I really don’t see the point in organizing all this with only 5-10 minutes per backer, what’s the sense in that?
OR, alternatively, if you’re not interested in all that, why organize the backer event anyway? You can simply put the FINISHED stamp on the HMD and send it out? It just doesn’t make any sense at all …
I think one of the main reasons Pimax want this meet is so that backers can see the difference between 5K and 8K on a 1080Ti so can make a judgement if they wish to change their pledge.
However with the 20 series now announced that makes it a difficult choice. The RTX 2070 could change that for VR, especially those that do not have lots of disposable income, then again those on a budget will be the least people turning up to this event. O.o
Don‘t worry, their won‘t be any time lost to booting up games - it may well be the same procedure like last year‘s demo. They have the game running on the laptop, and you get to try it for 5-10 minutes. Then you hand the M2 over to the next guy in line who will have to continue the game where you stopped.
And with three HMD‘s, they will likely demo three games. In the worst case, that‘s it and none of the games is Elite, PJC, DCS or Fallout/Skyrim.
But I do understand why they don‘t have 5 or 10 M2‘s with them. They would need additional laptops for them, all pretty well equipped, need space to set up all the spaces for the demos, and then they offer to conduct comparisons to Vive etc… so they need to bring those with them too. I bet they are not travelling with more than a team of say 3-4 people - you have to appreciate that they have to manage the transport of all of the equipment, supervision of each demo station during the demo, etc… This is not Oculus or HTC setting up a Gamescom booth for $500,000…
I’m sure you could rent those in Berlin, it’s one of the biggest cities in Europe. Even if it would cost $100 per laptop for a weekend, I still think it would make a lot of sense to invest $1000 for 10 additional laptops. That is if you’re REALLY interested in the backer’s opinion of course.
You paint a picture that Pimax turn up with a few HMD’s crammed into a cabin bag and then look around for a table to set it up on.
SweViver could probably figure out how to demo 5 HMD’s at a hotel and he is one man… This is a company that has had millions in backing who is asking backers to pay $$$ to attend a one-off event.
There needs to be some reasonable expense on their part to make this one-off meeting a success and that takes logistics. Hiring of equipment etc. Shipping prior to the event so that you do not have to carry stuff with you all the way from China.

You should have at least one 1080, I really would like to know how it runs on the 1080 as I really don’t want to upgrade My 1080 just yet. And if it will only run on a 1080TI then some may want to swap for the 5K.
I fear you really over-estimate Pimax grade of organisation & professionalism (and that‘s me not blaming them - you seem to confuse them with a bigger, more organized company).
And it’s not that simple, plug ˋn play. The laptops need to be set up, Pi-Play tested, issues solved, etc., way to much for their small team of Ru Weng and possibly 2-3 others, and you could bet that half of the rental laptops would have configuration issues they cannot resolve on the spot. And frankly I don‘t think that this is something they should waste too much energy on at this critical stage.
Whether the backers have 5 minutes or 1 h, if the games are preselected you don‘t get a complete picture anyhow. The beta testers opinion is what is really relevant - once they have had a couple of days with the M2 at home. Everything else is a nice first impression, nothing more,
Well I agree but the testers are not giving green light. And pimax wants to release. So it’s getting a complicated situation

this poll missing “it depends…”
The original specs were a gtx1070 would be sufficient. There should be one to test the Pi8k and the Pi5k
I have to admit, I was quite motivated to go there, but with time passing and seeing how Pimax have been handling it, I have concluded it will be waste of time for me. While it would be nice to meet some other backers and discuss with them, or to try quick shot at some game, I imagine this is really not worthy the time and money.
I agree with @Axacuatl that it is not as easy as some might think to get all the hardware and the software together especially when one must go around globe for that, but this is basically all I can agree about.
For the rest, I agree with others. Advertising Q&A with the team in advance without actually planning any time for that is questionable. Completely skipping the GTX 1070 question is also hard to understand (in this context it does not matter that there is already a new RTX). 5-10 minutes for a shot is not long enough to make any kind of evaluation.
Sure, it is enough and perfectly OK to do a demo this way when you are trying to capture peoples attention or to make them believe this might work, but we have already agreed on that - this is why we pledged our money - and we are no longer in the proof of concept stage.
The most important objective right now is to validate M2. The only reasonably achievable objective of Berlin meetup is using the opportunity of having the testers and Pimax team all together so they could come to an agreement about M2 (in that perspective it is unfortunate that no one from the Iberian branch will be present). This should be in my opinion the focus of the event. The rest is just nice to have.
