Bad image quality in steamvr

I have a pimax crystal light, and since the second day of using steamvr my visuals look terrible. Jagged lines, blurry text, in every game and main menu in steamvr. I have a RX 7900 XT since Sunday, and the first day it was crisp, clean and smooth. I checked the topic ‘how to make your pimax image/picture/screen clear/crisp’ and followed the steps best I could, but the files have changed so much since then it’s hard to figure out what to do. Plus: steam makes a new steamvr settings file every time I start a game. I have no idea what to do, anyone had a similar experience?

First, make sure the image quality is set to High or Custom (1.0).

Then check whether the SteamVR resolution is at 100%, and at the same time monitor the in-game FPS to see if it’s stable or stuttering.

If it’s stuttering, try lowering the image quality in Pimax Play.

Thank you for your reply. I will try this out this evening.

Unfortunately didn’t work. In game the resolution seems fine, sharp, but there is still blurry text, thin lines look jagged. When I view the windows desktop in the headset, that looks way better, crisp, sharp, clean. so the problem seems to be related to steamvr. It’s not unplayable, but after seeing what it could have been, it’s a shame. Thank you for the assistance.

Is Smart Smoothing enabled?

Or you can reach out to our tech support team for more suggestions.

I always adjust image quality in Pimax Play to the highest (2.0) lol. Then adjust everything through SteamVR. I don’t settle for less lol, I don’t know if it’s a good idea to set it to 1.0 first in Pimax Play.

Lol. Then that’s a supersampling first, then reduce it.

No idea if it’s good, but some people really do that.

Related to SteamVR use vs the direct PimaxXR from within PimaxPlay, how much of a performance loss (or gain?) is made when using one or the other? Generally I think that PimaxXR/Pimax play is more performant but I do not have any definite numbers to back that up. THanks

I have enabled it, but steam seems to turn it off every time. For the time being I have adjusted my graphics for the best visuals without losing fps. I don’t know if it’s maybe a windows issue? At this point shooting in the dark… I know it is not the headset, is amazing so far. I remember having a similar issue with a Pico 4 ultra.

I have tried pimax xr as well, but there doesn’t seem to be a major difference in performance. I tried putting visuals to 2.0 too but that made everything way worse :’D. Extreme jumping lines in steamvr, like anti aliasing was never invented. So far putting pimax play visual settings at 0.23 and then upping the resolution in steamvr gives ‘the least worse’ visuals, but menus look quite blurry of course. But you are giving me some other tweaking ideas, to be continued

Thank you for the link  !
