I’ve checked BB on both headsets on 5k+ and 5kXR, on both brightness became slightly better on 4 and I see slight change when i switch between 1 and 4, XR became more enjoyable however it’s still way beyond any other oled hmds in terms of saturation and brightness, can we have increased scale of BB to max or at least to much higher value as other users reported previously in firmware there were available commands and it was possible to make panels through a custom software very bright almost as bright as og vive. This is really a big big problem for Oled XR hmd please consider to add it at least for XR, would be better to have it for other hmds like 8kx, 5k+, artisan etc

Iirc, the stated reason for the limit is that higher values reduce the LED lifespan too much.

I would use it for 2 years rather than not use it at all, why my og vive is still In perfect condition? It’s passed 4 years and oled is more prone to screen issues rather than lcd. Every hmd I had has no this damn dull brightness issue, maybe only rift s and I don’t use it for the same reason, it’s just immersion breaker for me.
Nobody forces you to enable higher BB but if you do and if it looks way better for you then the value of product and entertainment it provides are increased a lot.

True, but I think the engineers are worried that people will complain if it has a too-short lifespan.
As for higher brightness, I agree with you. I’ve increased my backlight brightness, which really helps lights and reflections look more real, as well as making the stars more visible in Elite Dangerous. Imo, it definitely helps my immersion. The Brightness = -1 helps keep shadows dark (and counterbalances the increased backlight brightness).

The brightness = -1 is to help reduce the crushed colors. Anyway, this is off-topic, so I’ll stop now.
@neal_white_iii on oled panel this looks different rather than on lcd, I also use similar contrast/brightness settings on my 5k+ coz on lcd colors are pale but on oled they are ok at 0 value they are just too dull
