When using the OG Crystal (Wired) without the lighthouse faceplate, it is possible to use watchman dongles and basestations to connect index controllers to steamvr. When connecting using the new wireless mode, this isnt possible, as the basestations and controllers arent detected in steamvr, and the controllers can’t be paired in PimaxPlay. Would it be possible to somehow change how the pimax driver in steamvr works to allow for connecting basestation tracked controllers while in wireless mode?
Yeah, I really want this too, I tried the same yesturday and was disapointed at the lack of being able to use base station devices
Also means I can’t use vive trackers with it either
This has been an issue even before wifi link though, the same issue would occur if you use the headset wired without the lighthouse faceplate
I’m currently using the headset wired without the lighthouse faceplate and it works (mostly) fine, but you do need some USB watchman dongles to stand in for the missing ones on the headset, and probably more than 2 if you’re using trackers. I just find it odd that this breaks when using wireless mode since the controllers should just need to pair with steamvr instead of pimaxplay.
I have the lighthouse faceplate attached but I also have a plethora of extra dongles connected, steam VR just doesn’t seem to acknowledge their existence when the crystal is connected
Agreed here, I also tried the wireless mode but none of my tracker or base station are not detected. Which is weird because other standalone headset can detect lighthouse stuffs just fine, so is Crystal in wired slam mode.
On a side note, the wireless mode is very unstable right now, lots of black screen flicker and random shutdown of the entire headset, as well as some weird noises.
Throughout the whole session?
Let me check with the devs. Theoretically, it should work without the LH faceplate—as long as the SteamVR dongles are connected, it should pair and connect properly.
My session hasn’t been very long since it’s quite unstable, but the weird buzzing noise is throughout the whole session; the flickering dark screen happens every 5 seconds or so and seem to happen right after I blink?
All those issues occur when Airlink is connected, does not occur if just using the Crystal OG in AIO mode alone.
I’m using an AMD GPU (7900XTX) if that could be a source of possible issue.
This is also an issue for me, black flickering, the headset straight up shutting off 25% of the time and everything else everyone is saying
Noted.
I’ll ask @Mikeyyy take a look in it.
I haven’t had headset flicker, but it feels like the scale is off when using wireless mode for me, I was testing forefront and the weapons looked larger than they did when using wired. Wouldn’t have any idea why. Also, i get a slight warping effect near the middle of my view if i change bitrate when the airlink session is still active.
Have you got anything back about the flickering, random shutdown and imcompability with lighthouse devices?
The developers are currently investigating this. If possible, could you please collect the logs and share them with me?
In the meantime, compatibility with Lighthouse accessories is not yet included in our current plans.
