A few things I don't like about the G2 that the 8KX does better

Can you expound on the mod, is it for the G2 to help with the small sweet spot? Also what is your IPD, mine is low, like 62ish. Thanks

So strangest thing happened on the G2 last night. So I’m playing Pistol Whip via reverb.

And every time a shoot a pistol when customizing the gun the right eye woukd go black sometimes and if i shoot again the left eye would go black.

only way to fix was pushing the steam vr button to go back to the menu then it woukd go back to normal.

Ok weird I thought must be revive.

Then I start playing and everything is good until I pistol whip an enemy. The screens would do it again.

Its almost as if the headset blacks out the eyes when there is too much bass.

But I shrug it off as a revive issue and decide to play boneworks

but it happened there at some point too! WTF?

Then I stumble across this.

have you seen anything like this?

@NextGenVR maybe you?

Edit: Seems like this may be x570 related. As it seems reading that reddit that alot of users experiencing this are on AMD platforms. :grimacing:

This is exactly what I expected moving from Intel. Oi.

This made playing these games impossible.

Man , even Pimax doesn’t have bugs this bad. I’m ready to return this headset now…my 30 days are up anyway.

Forgot about amd pimax incompatibility? And I remember several piplay releases that did not even boot. Sorry but your statement makes just no sense. You start to sound quite pimax fanboyish now. Not many of them left, most turned sour to the dark side.

And you should never buy a headset when your ipd is 2 mm out of the spec range anyway unless you are willing to mod it

I usually listen at 50 to 70% volume in the G2, so I’ve never experienced this personally.

I was just about to say that 97% volume seems fairly high…

Have never heard the Index/G2 speakers though, but it’s almost never a good idea to max out the volume on any device for various reasons (there are exceptions of course)… :flushed:

Amd Gpus rx400 rx500 and Vega. R9 series and before ran fine. I am however fortunate as was looking to grab the Frontier 16g Vega card. But was unable to find one.

So glad I grabbed a 1080 ti Zotac mini; however this was a compromise as well as Had wanted the Artic Mini(?) With watercooling.

I am curious what amd changed that messed up the compatibility which had existed in previous cards.

More like Intel Fanboyish, get it straight. :grinning:

I know full well that everything has potential problems with AMD.

What can I say i like loud volume.

I feel like its a weird thing not to be able use your hardware to its fullest. (Pun Intended)

Not really ok.

Plus what a weird bug…

Hearing loss is a real problem.

Hehe. Either way I just decided to give the 8kX another try, since you’re so happy with it. Wanted to try the backlight settings, but first problem: how do you even find the latest pitool version? The official download page doesn’t have betas, so you need to scroll down forum posts to find it. And then you install it and it says there’s that 266 update, but should you install that then? It’s hard to even find out if you’re on the latest version.

Either way, installed that .87 version with 0.80 PE tools and a FW update but still didn’t see any backlight option anywhere, not in pitools not in PE. Not sure why you seem to think pimax is so fantastic when they can’t even get their updates right. Also got eye strain within a few minutes again so just decided to switch back to the G2 again.

Kind of crazy that after, how many months now, they still haven’t fixed that version bug.

took me less than 5 mins to flash the firmware for the first time.
i don’t get what’s hard and confusing about it

try checking your version number of your software in pitools and you’ll see

Main issues is getting it posted in #Pimax-pitool:Pitool-Notes on the first post if not releasing as before.

The internal Betas if going to be released they need to adopt a using a standard release numbers.

Ie odd numbers Non standard Beta Release. So instead of 1.087v2 it should be 267 and add option to opt in to these Beta Beta Pitool.

All pimax software releases should be in Release Notes catagory.

maybe because i’ve seen the post about the wrong pitool version number prior to flashing the firmware so it didn’t confuse me

I trade all that for the feeling of putting the HMD on and everything looking right in the G2.
In the 8kx it just doesn’t feel right, no matter what i do.
I’m just waiting for the promised software IPD adjustment. If things don’t change i’m selling mine.

lol…

The index speakers being off ear, I simply don’t find them loud enough. My play space is next to the boiler room which is quite noisy.

I’m actually finding the index speakers to be at quite the disadvantage if you dont have a perfectly silent playspace.

Anyway its not much of an argument. What if I told you this.

Hey I bought this new car, but when I put my radio volume too high the brakes stop working.

That’s ok, i never turn my volume up to above 95% anyway.

This is not the correct attitude.

you can easily fix a piece of padding to the speaker to make it more headphone like

even without, I tried 70% and it was almost painful, went back to 60%, I can’t imagine how bad someone’s hearing is that they need 90+%

I mean, come on, you know what the fix will be, they’ll make 95% the new “100%” and it will fix the problem, but someone will still complain the headset isn’t loud enough

and saying this is worse than any problem Pimax had, oh boy, I don’t even know where to start with that one, I mean at least I can actually hear the G2 speakers and they aren’t on top of my head

But this goes up to 110%
