man… your killing us with those slips
If my choice between headsets was all about 2 meters of extra cable above 5m, I would simply move my PC
New lenses that are not fresnel, which have an anti reflex coating on the inner side, that would mitigate a few issues I would think
to quote myself: Martin… you just had to do that didn’t you…
Bias is what preference is all about. The xp good or bad affects bias for or against. Due to design factors & physiology you don’f enjoy the pimax headset as I can.
The same is true for @SweViver & @Sjef due to design limitations (in this case lens max ipd) affects there ability to enjoy the Reverb.
Sj even attempted to mod the HP lenses & panels to accomodate his larger ipd.
Im as excited as u are
Backers get 8k-X for free?
What? Just an educated guess.
Prob. 90hz confimed though.
Actually no, The Reverb problem is not panel utilization, but poor optics and quality of panel. Actually, You can easily see where the panel cuts off due for the panel not being large enough. Now, Poor panel utilisation was very apparent on the first 3 Pimax units releases, 5k+, XR/BE, 8K. Martin did good testing and discovered the issue. This issue is not as prevalent on the Reverb from discussions on various individuals to my recollection
Lol as MS is not making their own headsets directly. It’s more on the OEMs to advertise & utilize influencers like youtubers for hype. It is interesting on their update causing issues for WMR. But in part I think WMR is there to push W10 forward & a clever way to share RnD costs in VR for say the next Xbox release.
Pitool I often think ppl are over tweaking things as I can often with defaults in pitool & steamvr obtain decent results with minor changes here & there (usually in game settings).
Yeah the Reverb’s sweetspot was awfully small and I couldn’t even get it sharp in both eyes due to the IPD limitations of the hmd. Also I thought he colors were fairly flat, much like the 5k+. And WMR is indeed horrible, like @sweviver said, it seems microsoft doesn’t care about it anymore. In fact, it kind of seems the whole platform is dead. Last 2 years Samsung announced their odyssey’s in september but we’re almost half octubre now and still nothing … I’m starting to think it’s because they’re abandoning WMR.
New lenses???
Wish I could do that! But the way my living room is setup and my wife…those extra 2m make quite the difference and there is a big reason why for all headsets you see tons of threads online of people looking for extension recommendations, it’s a very common scenario especially since everyone is dragging their feet on wireless vr except for vive.
Backpack itx pc.
In a scuba diving game it’d increase immersion hahah weird language
One of the main per use issues with WMR is the idea of desktop use. Reverb is a decent contender for this if not for strange oversights like Lens quality & no physical ipd. Also the strange HP limit on cable length.
My opinion will need to see if Acer’s Ojo? If Acer delivers without these key flaws in Reverb. I also think MS has been using this to cut RnD costs for Next Xbox with VR.
Strangely though MS is trying to patent Roomscale Carpet. & we know some like Antvr Cyclops already has modular roomscale ir carpet. Lol
Scuba & Space suits.
Wow at last they switched to rgb oled…Thats amazing…
Yeah. My v1 Reverb has some terrible red smear on movement. Looks like black smear but red and visible even in bright scenes on any edge as soon as I move my head. But again, I don’t use that headset so I simply don’t care
Thanks for the E:D shots!
Im pretty sure if Samsung releases a new HMD, it wont be WMR anymore. They must have lost money on their Odyssey series. Low sales caused price drops down to 300 usd (or 250 even at some point?). Its common sense. If sales are low, you drop the price.
Hehe naah take it easy mate
