on Pimax facebook page, a user says: Just so you’re all aware, i have a source inside pimax that just told me 90% that they’re sure they will not make the april 1 deadline for the 8K X and they think itll be pushed back further through May. They said the virus in china itself is delaying production alot. They extended Lunar New Year by 2 more weeks to contain it. Also, things Being said about the dates are coming only from 1 representative from Pimax… and the others arent even talking about dates because theyre all tired of saying sorry when things are delayed. - just giving you guys a heads up. I preordered the 8K X as well.
However the current Corona Virus health crisis in China and the world at large is very likely to affect those dates in my opinion. When you see footage of them building a new hospital facility to help cope with the virus it is not a good sign.
Travel restrictions imo point to coming delays and I could see this also giving added stress with concerns of how folks may take what should be understandable.
Hi. If we are talking about peoples lives versus a vr headset then I’m happy to wait till whenever the situation improves. I’m no expert but reducing traffic and keeping people at home instead in factories sounds imperative. Hopefully they will eradicate this epidemic and no more lives will be lost. Not true. There are zero people “inside pimax” right now. It’s possible that the health issue could affect timelines but no discussion at all has occurred that I know of speculating about that.
Judging by the extended holidays you can not tell anything. I expect at least 1-2 weeks but it can be way more up to months if they cant control the virus.
Today german Lufthansa has stopped all flights to china until end of February, thats a sign to take this very serious…
Factories by and large weren’t planned to resume until around the 10th so I would say so far most production timelines in China are only impacted to a small degree. Thing is disruption of even minor segments of the typical supply chain *after the 10th can potentially have a tangible impact.
I uh, preordered the 8KX not knowing it even had a release date. I was just hoping I’d get it before I moved house in August and had to deal with changing shipping address etc.
