8KX and Nvidia drivers issue

This bug has been around for a while, and I’m continuing to follow up with the devs to see if there are any new updates from the Nvidia team.

Do you have any updates?

I’ve been running latest drivers with my 8KX and 5090 with no issues whatsoever.

Not yet. There hasn’t been any breakthrough in the debugging phase.

Is it possible at least to have a big discount to swap to other devices? i mean we can’t wait several months again, our visors are useless since many months. I would like to drive again, but not by swapping drivers every time.

I have the same problem since nividia driver 572.42. Installed Pimax play 1.43.1 on sunday and it works fine with nvidia driver 566.36. Then I tested the new 581.80 and my Pimax 8KX can’t be connected and windows 11 crashes. Waiting for solution …

@ DieCola And that’s a very good question. We’ve been deceived for months, there’s no solution. Maybe this is the way

i’ve asked this, and kept getting ignored(or question dodged).
its been a paper weight since jan 2025 for driver issues.

for me its been longer, since i had other issues with my headset as well.
and when i did get it working on older driver, it felt like the panels are misaligned(headaches no matter what, and left lens blurry)

i got no real solution from support.

tried asking about what you said.

been using my 5K plus since march 2019 with no issues….
we need a way to turn our 8KX in and have an actual working new headset…..

Edit: just want to turn in a 1386$ headset in to something like the Crystal Super OLED and call it a day.

From what i read, i cant even run the 12K with my 4XXX card.
So, just want to put the money i spent on the 8KX to full Cystal Super(a working headset)
Basically get a working headset.

@PimaxQuorra So, which driver and Pimax Play version should I use to run the 8kx with 5090 currently?

Could you please specify the Nvidia driver, Pimax Play version and windows build number? Do you have a multi-monitor setup or not? What is the resolution? Thanks.

Could you also specify Pimax Play version and windows build number please?

Eligible headsets can use part of their trade-in value for the Crystal Super. The only thing is that this does not stack with the discount offered for Crystal users. You can use up to 50% of your headset’s trade-in value for the Super, up to 399 USD, and keep the remaining trade-in value for the 12K.

In the meantime, I’ll also push the dev team to provide updates on the 8KX compatibility issue.

Yup, kept getting that.

and i wanted to just dump it all into the crystal super and call it a day.
i didnt want to use only 399$ out of the 1386$ i spent on the thing.

just wanted to put it for a headset i know that will work, and i can run(that is out too).
From all the issues i had with the 8KX, i wanted to at least be able to use the 8KX for it.
Basically bought a paper weight day one, and had nothing but problems after problems.
promises and replacements to none to fix.

i have two 5K pluses and a Super headset as well.

I’m using the latest PP version, the latest Nvidia driver and on Windows 11. I’m not in front of my PC so can’t give you version numbers, sorry. But in truth, I’ve never had an issue with the 8KX. I recently upgraded my GPU from a 4090 to a 5090 and it just worked.

Thank you! I’ve got 5090, and my 8kx will arrive in a few days. But I just found out it’s unusable for so many people who’ve spent thousands of dollars for the best possible experience… I hope I’ll be lucky.

This issue mainly stems from the 4XXX series, its good that you have the 5XXX and yours works.
But for us on the 4XXX series cards it does not.

i am not spending 2.5X that i paid for a 4090 2 years ago, just for 11-18 more FPS for a 5090 just to get my 8KX to work Driver based.

i have other issues with my headset other than just Drivers too.
But this is the issue going on for many on the cards we have.

You wont have issues from what is known for the 5XXX cards.
this issue seems to be a 4XXX problem mainly.

But what really causes it driver wise, not really sure.
I tested my card in two different systems(AMD and intel)
and it was the same issue.

didnt matter if HAGS was on or off, you tried different cables.
it seemed the moment you go past 566.36 driver.
you system freezes when i tries to load.

I never had issues with my 4090 either. It just worked. Always updated my drivers, windows and PP versions. Nothing ever broke it.

Very strange to be hearing about issues.

Actually i’m so upset about this issue. I’m a big simracing fan, and i want to drive with my sim, but actually i can’t do that because of this issue. I don’t want to upgrade to an expensive 5xxx card because my 4080 is still good. I also love my 8KX because of the huge fov which is unique in VR market. I just want to use my headset. Can’t believe this issue is 1 year old and still not fixed. This is a very expensive visor, and i would like to use it. Sorry for the rant but i’m very upset.

It’s just so strange. I never had an issue with my 8KX and all the GPUs I’ve used over the years - 1080ti, 3090, 4090, and now 5090. Not to mention all the OS upgrades from Win10 to Win11 and the CPUs I’ve upgraded to (currently on 13900KF).

I feel bad for all those having issues. The 8KX is such a great headset.
