8K X has arrived at MRTV HQ

I dont feel the need to argue about this further, but the old NDA indeed does mention other future products, until the NDA runs out.

Anyhow. This is not about bureaucracy. Its simply a matter of understanding and respecting the relationship with Pimax and why these samples are being sent out to certain ppl in the first place. A unit which isnt final yet, is a release candidate for a good reason. It needs some adjustment to be put into the mass-production line. And nobody watching the video will see the non-final product in the mailbox anyway.

Im not angry at Seb and I shouldn’t be either. What I saying here though, is that internal agreements are there for a reason. Pimax have nothing to hide when it comes to this release candidate unit, and the weak points have already been discussed here. But the fact still remains its a release candidate unit and should simply be considered and presented as such. Especially since the person in the context is one of the first in the world to have this unit it its hands. A pre-production unit.

Well yes but Sebastian asked for a sample over and over again for months now. So we agreed to send him one. And I personally told him the final “review units” with final MAS will not be available until late February. This is why “big” reviewers like Linus, Tested, RoadToVR and similar are still waiting.

Call me an idiot, but in my opinion you dont do an unboxing of a product calling it “Unboxing”, if the product itself obviously is sent as a sample in bubble wrap, and without even a retail box.

What do you think people will expect and say if they see this video in 3 months for now?

Yeah it makes pimax look unprofessional. My 8k+ was packaged with great care, a premium box

Then I suggest if received before MAS to leave it in box until it arrives. If you can resist temptation that is. :smirk:

If received with clear identification &/or documentation. Then yes it would be a test sample. Otherwise the fault is in the delivery.

Just a suggestion for the future:
Every product that is sent to anybody
a) is either to be considered final or
b) contains an explicit declaration of intent - in the box

Think most reviewers want to give every company a fair chance and not bash for the sake of it (exceptions excluded). But it’s always best to set up the expectations up front.

In the last few post about Seb you are making it clear you have some kind of issue with what he is doing or not doing.

As someone working for Pimax maybe you should take this up privately with Seb rather than making nasty insinuations in the public forums here.

Seems like there some kind of miss communications here and you two should get together, so to speak, and communicate privately to clear it up rather than turn it into some negative drama publicly.

Alright, that is truly enough now.

Pimax has sent me this unit without any kind of further documentation. I had directly asked Robin, Pimax CEO, for an 8K X review unit before CNY. He told me I would get it and I received the UPS tracking number.

I am glad he stood to his word. Of course I must think this is the final unit but simply not in the final retail box, just as I say in the video.

The video, by the way, is very good news for Pimax, because it is a very positive first impression that I have of the 8K X.

I am super surprised by @SweViver’s outburst and him even insinuating, I would want to hurt Pimax. That is ridiculous. The video is a really positive one and I truly liked what I saw.

People would have only talked about how great the 8K X is, and not how it arrived at my doorstep. Thanks to this unnecessary outburst, they now WILL talk about it.

I don’t know what the matter is here @sweviver, but the only person who is doing Pimax a disservice here is you.

I have no more energy to waste on this thread. I have cleared up the misunderstanding of this not being the final review unit in the description of the video AND in an IN VIDEO card that will pop up just in the right moment.

We can still work together professionally whenever we have to, but on a personal level, I am truly disappointed.

Why did I just backe…Why?.. Just to see how a dream could still be a dream. @pimaxvr @SweViver get your sh…t together and stop appetize “your” product if the release date is far from finish. Stop promoting or testing “your” product with Youtubers who want to be the first to get more likes and klicks. Stop sending out test units without real testers. Stop discus things in public which make your firm the bad it already looks. JUST STOP NOW and be silent untill the final stage 1 week before sending the product to the backers. And… stop producing more versions… you had your chance and you try to patch your fallty versions by pushing out new versions wie plus, minus, extra, pro,super and mor added words. JUST STOP NOW!!

I can not believe I used to watch and enjoy your videos 2 years ago, what happened? You are passive aggressive, or just flat out aggressive, have terrible communication skills, respond to every comment negatively, state things you do not know to be true (NDAs) cause ever more confusion.

Pimax should fire you, you are out of control and the PR damage do with these tirades is incalculable (as much as I dislike Upload VR and some of their writers, your twitter just makes Pimax look bad).

People like you sink upstart companies quickly.
You could never behave like this on social media for a European company. Pimax seem to be too disorganised, lack english skills to realise what you are doing.

Take a step back. Before responding to this in a hostile tone, sleep on it. Maybe step back entirely from social media until you are well rested and clear headed.

I am sceptical of Pimax becuase of the constant bad communication and poor support of early backers. The 8kx looks really interesting as an upgrade to my Valve Index. Reading all your posts online has once again put that nail in the coffin for me. If you are a reflection of Pimax, then Pimax is an emotional, impulsive, aggressive entity I want nothing to do with.

@Heliosurge you are doing a fantastic job, I have read your posts here and also on the old forum for the past 1-2 years. You calm people down without coming across as a pimax fanatic. You are an asset to the Pimax company and are the only person I have read from Pimax who I would want working on any aspect of my company. I don’t expect Pimax to be perfect, but I do expect a professional attitude, and you sir offer that even when conversations get very prickly.

Peace everyone: from a person, who as sceptical as they are from Pimax, wishes them all the successes as their success will only help push high end VR.

You seem to miss out the part of the quote you are replying to where this miscommunication and the fact youtubers have these headsets and doing videos against your wishes is 100% the fault of poor communication from Pimax and people working getting these headsets in the hands of Youtubers.

It is amazing how much “sorry for the communications not being clearer” can work to get good will. It is quite outstanding that your first thought is, as implied in multiple comments, that seb is doing this to cause chaos or bad reviews on Pimax. This is a reflection on you and your company rather than Sebatian Ang.
