I received my 5k+ yesterday. Thank you very much for that. However, I am having issues that are making the Pimax almost unplayable. I’ve tried setting up a support ticket but it won’t let me into my account. It says my account’s password change has been disabled and I can’t log in.
But now for the major issues that make my Pimax 5k+ Almost unplayable:
-
Dead pixels in the middle of my left panel.
-
Horrible black dot pattern that creates a bad SDE
-
Yellow light bleed in the right panel.
-
While playing Elite Dangerous, it is rending two different images in each eye. I’m not talking about parallel projections (it is enabled), I’m talking slight weird differences in each eye.
Here is an example of what I’m talking about. Look at where the arrrows are pointing.
Right eye:
Left eye:

I think you need to restart the computer for parallel projection to be saved.
Did you try this ?
Yeah for sure. It’s not cross eyed, it’s just rendering the same image but my right panel is slightly off. I’ll take pics a little later tonight.

You could submit SUP now, please go for it:
- Dead pixels in the middle of my left panel.
- Horrible black dot pattern that creates a bad SDE
- Yellow light bleed in the right panel.
please take a photo and point out the where it is located with a arrow.
- While playing Elite Dangerous, it is rending two different images in each eye. I’m not talking about parallel projections (it is enabled), I’m talking slight weird differences in each eye. I can’t play Elite like this. It hurts my eyes. This game is all I really play so I need to get this resolved so I can get back to Distant Worlds 2.
please turn on parallel projection, then restart steamvr and game.
Thanks @Sean.Huang! I already have Parellel Projections on. That’s not the issue. Check out the imagines in my post.
I’ll submit pictures in my support ticket.
@Sean.Huang That didn’t fix my account with support. I still can’t log in.
You know you need a different account for support, right?
There are 3 different types or registration:
- forum account
- shop account
- support account
shop account and support accounts looks very similar, but they are not same, make sure youre registered.

I ever found wrong rendering in fallout 4, there is shadow in one eye only, it is about parallel projection.

if PP is enabled, you will still have shadows in one eye?
I already had an account, I just can’t access it. When I go to register again, it says I already have an account.

@Sean.Huang I try to log into my support account but they keep asking me to put in correct captcha. I am putting in correct captcha but it says that i’m not and won’t let me move forward.
I couldn’t see the issue in your screen shots, but I believe you. It’s probably more noticeable when moving your head. I’m wondering if this might be the “tearing” issue that some have reported. That’s a problem with the .95 version of PiTools. Apparently, you can use the .91 version (but you also might need to flash the headset rom).
There are details on the forum, but maybe someone with firsthand knowledge can advise you. (I’m still waiting for my headset.)
Both mode have different problem.
first choice have wrong shadow.
other has wrong culling at the edge.
Can’t remember what option make each issue.
Are you saying there’s a possible fix?
Take a closer look at my pics. Right eye is actually not rendering details that the left is and it creates a weird illusion. Doesn’t feel good on the eyes. ED had a similar VR issue in 3.3 with new exploration and mining tools but they fixed most of it. Again, it could be on Elite’s side but didn’t notice it in my Vive Pro right before turning on the Pimax.

Do you have problem on both mode?
I’ve created a cropped version, that makes the issue more visible. To me, it looks like texture artifacts; you should try increasing the super-sampling (in SteamVR), to see if it improves the situation. The changes in the orange lighting might be due to a “rotating hazard light”.

Reboot the HMD in the pitool HMD menu…also the setting in the pimax software for Hidden area mask and compatible with parallel projections sometimes need to be on for a specific game so messing with these can fix issues.

I guess we are talking about the dark space under the shelf in the right eye, while it being perfectly lit in the left eye.
Could it be that the there is some shader which simulates the reflection of this security light and the evaluation whether the “reflection” should be rendered is very simple and possibly gives different values for the right and left eye. For example, the right eye considered to not be in the reflection path, while the left eye is?
I do not know, but it seems more like the problem with the game engine than with the Pimax.
