World scale too big

The world scale is not off consistantly. As I said this should be adjustable in game vs by headset. Otherwise it becomes something else needed to have in per game profile. And why this sort of setting should be in game setting & wouldn’t be overly hard to add in game.

This config feature is possibly used only for some legacy code/headsets, which do not use/provide proper eye to head transform, it does not do anything on Pimax.

What is your real life IPD and what is your headset IPD? Do you use different face cushion? What is your PiTool config (parallel projection, FOV)? Do you observe the world scale problem in all games, or just some?

My IPD is 64, in my VIVE it is set to 64,5 and got a good image. Tryied it first of all with all IPD settings, just to see if anything is changing, but the world scale is alway the same. After that i just tryied to take the headset more away from my eyes and a little bit closer, only thing that changes, are the distotions but the scale seems the same. when i put the headset about 2 fingers away from my eyes with 59,9 IPD i got the first time a clear image on both eyes. After that i tryied the diffrent FOVs but that does only change the visible screen. I got that scale problem in every game, did also testing with same games on oculus and steam if there is maybe a steam problem but the games looking exact the same.
tryied also with on/off parallel projection, but the games which don’t need this option just look the same.

After that i tryied other Pitool versions, no diffrences. I tryied now to reinstall everything so i deleted steam and pitool and cleaned the registry and did a fresh installation but nothings changes, so i started to try to change the usb ports and Display ports but until now it’s always the same. Only option that i maybe now have is a older firmware flash.

I would be happy for any ideas. Something that i can try.

I don’t know if this helps but I had the same problem with Skyrim using revive and never did find out how to fix it so I just waited for Skyrim VR to come out

I’ve read that Rift has larger scale than Vive in some games, maybe a Rift user can confirm if scale is ok for him. I can only confirm that it is larger than Pimax 4k.

So it must have been my upgrade to 111 firmware.

No it was just placebo, tryied it yesterday after work again and the same, i think the reason for this scale is, because i got distortions on the inner site, so i see the world with one eye always stretched, depends in which direction i’am looking.

What IPD you set in Pimax?

Tryied now with every setting for a half hour, if i set >65 i got the same scale problem but its loosing sharpnes, when i set <64 it’s getting sharper but not on point and still with bigger scale, but the biggest problem is that i got distortions on the inner site no mattet which setting i use, i think this is causing the scale problem because one eye is always a little but stretched, depends in which direction i’am looking. Wrote with some people with the same IPD and no one have the distortions on the inner site. I just think my unit is defect, MRTV has the same IPD as i and i asked him, he said he have zero distortions on the inner site. Wrote now a ticket to support for a replacement, hope i will get a answer soon.

Try to set the IPD on the headset to your real IPD and then try to get the headset as close as possible to your eyes either by using a thin facepad, or removing the facepad completely (just for the test) to see if closing the distance to the lenses helps with the inner side distortion.

Otherwise, it is possible that your headset is miscalibrated, i.e. it displays the left and right eye images at the smaller IPD than it is set to.

Did that but didn’t helped, the image feels always a little bit strange and the distortion on the inner site is always there, if i look only with one eye and move to the sweet spot, the image is clear and no distortion on inner site, so i also think here is something wrong with the calibration. I got also the VIVE and PSVR, no metter which IPD i set on this headsets, it’s never in a strange world scale, just get’s blurry if it is set wrong.

With scaling keep in mind resolution. Other headsets have considerably low res. Think of your desktop res. Without adjusting scaling it can be hard to read text at high res. But im this case need scaling setting in the ap as not all aps are affected.

W10 had to add this for compatability.

If he had my issue where everything is the wrong scale including steamvr home then it’s not a apps problem it’s pimax. Mine was really pissing me off until it was fixed. Now most things are the correct scale. I not going to say everything is correct as like you said some games have the wrong scale on ever headset. But I’m just glad steamvr is correct

The world scale being off is very apparent when bringing a Vive wand close to your face. It’s just huge in comparison to when viewing the same controller through a Vive HMD. Or when viewing it in real life. Vive on the other hand has it the same size as the real life version.

It’s really weird this even exists. It’s weirder that there’s no known fix, other than hoping it randomly fixes itself.

Got a answer from the support, the solution i got was, that i have to get used to it. They said that i have to try a new game and play it for a week or so and i won’t notice it anymore. But i don’t want to play new games or something like that, especially because i’m playing mostly simulations, so to get used to a wrong scale of steering wheel and wrong scale of cars and planes is not possible because i know this things from real life. Claimed now for a replacement unit but until now silence.

Mate that sucks. Cause it’s software 100%. And I’m sure it’s fine for most which makes it worse for the few that suffer this problem as support just won’t give a stuff

Finally will get a replacement unit, really exited to see how it will be with the new one.

Since your getting a new one, try to reflash the firmware to the newest one and see if it helps. Can’t hurt since your exchanging it anyways.

Pretty sure that has already been tried by now

I flashed several firmwares, some older and also the newest, this changed nothing.
