Will retail Pimax 8k (non Kickstarter) release later than February? And will it be a newer/better model?

Wonder if they’ve said how long the 100$ wireless coupon is good for, no offense to them but I want to see them reviewing and proving it can work with the 8k X before throwing money at it.

Thats some pretty insane stats

Nothing to do with belittle vive/rift.

This is tech, not some emotional memory or whatever…
Tech evolves, i’m not gonna give glory to vive or rift.

That’s like giving glory to black/white tv

and atari and sega 8bit.

Grow up i would say, its tech it evolves, something better comes along, making us more aware how hard that thing you once found WOW, to SUCK…that isreality.

And maybe 8k is now wow, well guess what happens in 5 years.

Now i will praise 8k pimax, in the future i will trash it, because its tech it has no emotions like you…it doesn not react emotional like humans do. Tech doesnt attach itself to humans, humans attach themself to tech…

Lets just get real and see the thing as it is. New things sooner or later become OLD. Live in the present not the past…

my 1 cent.

ANd if you do think its stupid of me not to give gloryand say things like without Rift there would be no Pimax.

Might as well give glory to those who invented PCB, those who invented glass , those who invented lenses/plastic/elektricity/black color…and the list goes on…have fun xD

Let the guy live in his nostalgia. My commodore 64 is old tech too but where would computing have been without it? the general public would never have adopted computer if it were never invented. Same with the Rift and the Vive (RIP).

Palmer Luckey was just in the right place at the right time. I have no sympathy for Oculus. They had the opportunity to launch Virtual Reality but ended up shipping a low spec device. The god rays alone were joke. I remember when people started getting the pre orders we all thought they were faulty the god rays were so bad

Point is, there is more to it than just pushing the tech as hard as possible if one looks at the grand scale of it. I don’t necessarily agree with the Oculus and Valve approach, but I do get it, and they may be right and I may be wrong. Getting the best possible VR experience and getting VR to the masses are two different objectives, which do not always follow the same script. I get this is complicated stuff. So okay, if anybody feel that a rant will make him feel better, whatever. Meanwhile I will have another round with the currently best consumer VR HMDs available, if you don‘t mind - I wanted VR years ago and wasn‘t going to wait till 2018.
But I sincerely hope (and am betting substantial money on it) that Pimax will manage to turn a very promising prototype into a quality cv which lets my other HMDs get retired in the attic. I hope they learned from the mistakes which had the 4K fail in its attempt to compete with the big boys.

Not sure on this point. Retail will be more expensive and customs fees would be also factored into retail cost. Unless you import anyway…which you would still have to pay customs but at the higher retail pricing.

Oculus and Valve are currently like the gateway drug. Once you get a taste you may want something bigger and better.

@Matthew.Xu @PimaxVR Have you all seen this? Could be very useful.

from VRGimp27s video link posted here just in case Cascaded Displays: Spatiotemporal Superresolution using Offset Pixel Layers on Vimeo. Just scroll up to see their post otherwise.

It‘s worse than that I fear - you currently get a very nice glimpse at the potential but many are not yet convinced enough by the current state to join the party, which is why I tend to believe that moving at max speed does make sense today after all.

True, however, in the future its possible that costs will actually be lower than the kickstarter prices. Once they have refined the process in actually making the unit, ordering in bulk, can help push down the costs. If the demand is high enough, they could create distribution centers in more countries / cities. They have already said they like to use Amazon (currently using it for there 4K model).

However, the added benefits of the kickstarter stretch goals and the ability to get the tech sooner, for me personally outways any cons. Now take my money and give me VR eye implants heh.
