I don’t think the camera’s are useful for that. In theory maybe but other devices would be much better for the job.
Which of it? The 3D scanning? They are sufficient to resolve your fingers in 3D; That should last you a while - question is: How far?
You’ve got doc-ok’s old volumetric video capturing with Microsoft Kinects, which are basically the same thing as the Leap Motion, only with optics tuned to a larger volume. They are low res, and jittery as hell (make me think of the “black and white” default avatars from Snowcrash), but hey! :7
They aren’t 3D scanning your fingers. They are taking cues to model a wire frame of a hand and using some logic to restrict the movements to what a hand can actually do. It’s not the same thing as 3D mapping the hand
How do they acquire those cues, do you figure?
This is cool but I absolutely have no interest in flying without a yoke. My wish is for yoke and finger tracking to be combined. Can you do both of these at the same time in Aerofly?
Thank you for daring to say it.
For gaming, I dont see the use of hand tracking. For Business or professionals, there may be demand.
Have an original Leap Motion collecting dust for years. No excitement here.
