For some reason, the word “precarious” came to mind after seeing this…
lol naaah It’s a threaded hook screw that’s going into the STUD.
No way it’s falling…unless the rumours about the new PiMax Headstrap are true (and it’s terrible) lol
I got this idea, no stand but I giant mouse Mat as a soft ground for my precious hmd
Feel it’s much better this way for quickly putting the headset…

I have a similar solution right now. Wide mousepad on the desktop (that’s supposed to cover a keyboard and mouse normally), and a retractable keyboard a level below.
For longer durations I currently put it behind my desktop screens, on a soft echo-reducing like foam.
I also found that my lamp with a deformable arm (like those small phone tripods, but only one arm) with a grip claw end that attaches to eg. shelves provides a very stable stand if the headset rests partly toward the flat shelf end, with the rounded lamp arm in the nose area. Basically like a hoe with a deformable shaft for the nose area.
I store mine on the floor in a corner behind my couch and computer not accessible to traffic in a pillow case.
I got this. https://www.amazon.com/Snakebyte-Storage-compatible-Headsets-PlayStation-4/dp/B01M62A4VH/ref=sr_1_3?keywords=vr+headset+stand&qid=1554935663&s=gateway&sr=8-3
Works well, but face oils seem to show on the stand after you take it off.
Hi Rennsemmel, just got a Regolit and set it up today. It looks like maybe you have retractable carabiners on yours. Do they help?
Hi Quadrophenia, I have 3 of these:
Kuuqa 3 Stücke Heavy-duty Retractable Schlüsselanhänger Retractable Abzeichen Reel Clip mit 65 cm / 25 Zoll Stahldrahtseil, schwarz https://www.amazon.de/dp/B0773CM179/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_VukXCb134QYYJ
I like them because you have more freedom when you bend down or crawl. Without them you will curve the whole stick of the Regolit.
And dont forget to fix the sticks with ducttape, especially the top thing
Thank you. I think I will add some to mine as well. They are a good idea. Fixing with tape is a good one as well. That sounded like the voice of experience.
Here you can see the benefit of the retractable carabiners. You cant do this without them or the cable is loose and always in your face.
This is the other and better option to fix the cable to the regolit.
After changing from Rift to my Pimax I was to lazy to reinstall it, so thanks for reminding me of my previous solution
I dont move about the space i use for roomscale when not in vr so i just put the hmd down on the foam mat on the floor, if its already on the floor it cant fall anywhere, did the same for my vive before this.
When my dk2 was my main it would live on the ikea poäng chair (Elite: Dangerous flight seat) when not on my face.
Id never go for one of those HMD stands, one unlucky tug on a cable or sudden move could tumble my precious to the floor. Maybe if i glued the stand to the table but id still be hesitant.
I like the idea Renn!
I assume you are preventing wear and particularly kinking at the connection points. But in the picture, it looks like the carabiner is slipping inside the spiral tubing and therefore not preventing wear. I wonder whether the split tubing rather than the spiral would fix that? (probably need to tape the split after getting the cable inside)
Thank you for the addition!
I am not sure about your question, but the carabiners dont touch the cable.
The spiral tubing is strong enough to stay closed so you dont need to tape the split.
You can attach the carabiners to fixed points at the spiral tubing to control the behavier of the retractables.
hahaha
Got it! I was being stupid and the closeup photo showed me my exact mistake in what I was mentally picturing. Thank you!
