Where can we buy prescription lenses to put into the eye tracker?

Unfortunately it’s not quite that simple for everyone. My father is a retired opthalmic surgeon and consultant, so that has a definite bearing on my opinion hehe.

The strength of people’s eye muscles change over time according to use and age - and they can improve as well as deteriorate, as I found. This is why you should get retested regularly and have your glasses or contacts adjusted appropriately. Correct lenses = stable, or even improved vision. Incorrect lenses = discomfort, or worse, deteriorating vision.

So the problem with laser surgery is that most people are not willing, understandably, to get this redone regularly to match their changing needs, and are usually unwilling to then get glasses to compensate. This runs the risk of effectively wearing outdated glasses via surgery, which can have a detrimental effect on your eye muscles in the long run.

Hello Sweviver, can I use the eye tracking with a ipd of 60mm and could we use fpsvr for Oculus games in the pimax experience? And could we use the chaperone for Oculus games in the pimax experience?

The Simulator IL-2 Sturmovik is only running on DirectX11 while using deferred shading. Does it mean that IL-2 is, in its current form, incompatible to VRS?

As Pimax’ is on the drivers level, does it need DirectX12 or VRworks API in DirectX11 to run?

P.S. No matter the answer, I will get ET anyway -> for all more modern games.

The Pimax HMDs IPD works mechanically between 60mm and 72mm so yes it will work fine. Also there is a software IPD offset that could help below 60mm and above 72mm.

No fpsVR is only made for SteamVR.

The Pimax VR Experience is just an UI and game launcher, so once the game is launched the UI is terminated. So unless Pimax engineers adds chaperone support for Oculus games, then no it wont help.

Hello @SweViver can the pimax experience work just like the steam vr overlay in the future, when playing games you could go back to the Pimax experience and change the settings in steam games and oculus games?

Unless working eye tracker get shipped to all customers within reasonable time (aka within 2 weeks from purchase) from an individual point of view the DFR is closer to vapoware than real products.

Given the track record of Pimax - “ready in August” today can end up shipping in large quatities Easter time 2021. And then again problems to be fixed learned by community response are not out of question… Could end up like the first 8k models…

My lesson learned, no more excitement on Youtubers Pimax infos unless I have sth working for real in my hands. Zero excitements credits for Pimax in my case.

I’m glad I conviced all my peers not to buy Pimax products until production and delivery issues will be history. They better get sth for real instead of accusin me of hypin things up (i was guilty too) that simply don’t get shipped before competitors catch up.

Unfortunately thats not possible at this stage, and I think only SteamVR is able to do this.
Changing many settings needs to be made out side of SteamVR anyway, so thats not going to help anyway.

Im hardly ever excited about anything until the moment I have it in my hands. Not sure whats your point really in this thread, but thanks.

Thats what we do. Before the so called “competition” And cheaper…

By the way… what happened to the Oculus Half Dome?

Backers only! :sleepy:

The download link isn’t :beers::wink::vulcan_salute::sparkles:

We need to create an 8KX club.

I agree completely completely and said the tech excites me. For those going to run 8KX the eye tracking is a steal.
On a 5K+ with a 1080ti, I don’t see the cost benefit of even buying a 2080 for $1200CA but would be glad for any comparisons you might do on that testbed.
Great Pimax Now btw :ok_hand:

Is it not able to gain as much benefit then? What kind of gain have you seen so far? A shame if it’s low, as both DCS and ED are GPU heavy. I was hoping they would both improve with DFR.

I should have read this thread first. It answered the questions I had in a previous thread regarding the prescription lenses. It’s also good to know there is no FOV reduction when using the ETM, that is great news. Martin you are doing a great job my friend!

Let’s hope the USB port isn’t required for wireless - that would be a bummer if you had to choose between DFR and wireless!

You will not need eye tracking when wireless comes out because the release of the wireless Version will be when rtx 4080 ti comes out with almost 30 teraflops ^^

It sounds like initial attempts with DCS have shown little or no improvement – there could be a peculiarity with the way DCS has its render pipeline set up. But it’s very early days for the DFR tech and I’m sure Sweviver has not had too much time for testing, so it’s only an early result. I know the DCS developers are keen on VR, so it might be able to be made to work.
