Serious sam games
There are so many to list here, so i will just play everything.
For folks that like Virtual Desktop check out virtual toolbox its in sale in steam for less than $4 Canadian.
Is it better than Virtual Desktop? Very interested in working in VR too. Are all of this programs virtual desktop / virtual toolbox / bigscreen allow higher resolution (which will be even in non-X model higher than oculus/vive)?
Interesting, how does it compare to Virtual desktop?
@Kopa
I can’t say off hand but the steam comments mention it has some nice options that VD may not.
As for resolution? Titles already render higher than vive/rift with a variety of headsets; i myself have a PiMax 4k and can say things look very nice.
However I would recommend investing on the 5k/8k units as the 4k is getting dated & does have its design flaws/limitations.
VR Toolbox
The reviews generally say better than VD & Bigscreen
Bigscreen
Elite Dangerous
Project Cars 1 (maybe 2 if I’ve purchased by then)
Then visit some of the SteamVR Home locations…
VR Toolbox doesn’t appear to be on sale here (UK)
After I have Elite running well, and I’ve tried out a few of my top picks - including some of the ones mentioned by you guys - I’m keen to go over my VR library on Steam and try out a bunch of the little games, experiences and tech demo type things I installed when I first got the Vive. You know, those little 5 minute demos that flooded Steam when VR hit. Some of them were pretty neat, at the time.
I think that I’ll revisit a lot of old stuff, over time… If I can break away from my mainstay games
You guys don’t dig roomscale much heh
that is probably because we were adopters of the 4k which when purchased did not have room scale or positional tracking, so room scale games are not currently in our library’s…can you say that you had lots of room scale games before buying a room scale enabled HMD?
I sure do like 'em! I have a Vive and Oculus and about 100-odd VR games, it’s just game depth varies.
Many of the sim type games started as full featured desktop games that added VR support later, and many VR heads got into VR specifically for the sim/simcade experience. A lot of room scale games are smaller experiences with less dev time. I enjoy Onward (Used to play for 4~6 hours without a break), and Dead Effect 2, they’re my go-2 room scale games and I’ve played through a bunch of VR games 'til completion but as great as many of the room scale games are - there’s not often a lot of replay-ability, beyond showing new people VR.
In contrast, I have about 1000 hours in Elite, a few hundred in WarThunder, a couple hundred in ETS2 and ATS and I tool around in DCS. I keep coming back to those games because they’re designed for it, to keep playing, where at this stage a lot of room scale games can be played through, from start to end, in a few hours and if you replay it you’re just doing the same thing over.
Things like Fallout 4 will change that, I’ll room scale the heck out of that. ARKTIKA.1 will be simlar, I believe, in it’s depth. HL2 I’ll replay in VR, for sure.
Quite the opposite! Have the Vive and Rift and love roomscale games. However my answers relate to some of the VR experiences that would benefit most with higher resolution, reduced SDE and possibly the increase FOV. I want to see text and seated/slower games will allow me the time take in the (hopefully) many improvements.
Heliosurge how you using VR Toolbox with Pimax 4k? When I start It say “Please continue using a hand controller”. I have Ocolus touch, any way I can use it with P4K not Oculus on my head? Or xbox controller supplied with Oculus… No way to use with mouse/kb, only with controllers?
Razer hydra. I had to use them in bigscreenbeta as well
Should be also be able to with psmove
Sad then waiting my 8K for use it…
VorpX+skyrim
MocumocuDance (MMD on VR)
Follout4 VR
- NoLimits 2 - LOVE THAT!!! (4K was very good in there for me too, Vive failed, made me feel ill)
- Cmoar / Virtual Desktop - to see how watching films and TV shows is like (got eye strain with the 4K and Vive’s god rays ruined the viewing to a certain degree)
- Elite Dangerous - ease of reading text for me
- and check the brightness/darkness situation
One more:
Osiris New Dawn + vorpX - to see if it is not too dark in certain areas and at certain times
- 4K was great in game, except for being too dark at times
- Vive just made me feel ill pretty quickly
I will also be getting regular hits of The Lab’s Slingshot and Longbow A MUST!!!
Then, all being well, I will seek out other goodies of the VR world
Everspace VR - great space rogue like game and VR mode !
