I think many do, i guess i’m lucky. On my old reverb G2 i couldn’t stomach 60hz due to strobing but it seems ok on my 8kx. I’ve been using the Aero for the last few days and miss the 60hz (meaning i don’t need as many fps) of my 8kx (Aero only does 90hz).
So which one is your daily driver? 8KX or Aero? I cetrainly thought about getting the Aero, but the cost was just a bit high. I also saw youtube videos from people saying there was distortion that still needed to be ironed out and that they didn’t even have motion-smotthing yet. I suppose those are old videos?
I received the aero last week and its been my daily driver since then but the 8kx will be used again soon as it does some things better like fov obviously and different refresh rates. No motion smoothing yet on the aero but its “coming soon”.
The distorsions are highly subjective, for me i hardly notice them, but for some others its bad. There’s certainly been teething problems such as QC issues, myself i have a dead pixel, so have quite a few others. Varjo support seems solid though, they are replacing mine with no hassle.
At that price they should have one on the way while you wait hahah
Lol they’re sending a new hmd out whilst i still have the old 1, i’ll send the old 1 back when the new 1 arrives…or maybe i’ll ebay it
…not really.
Indeed that’s great service. +1 Varjo
But will CyberPun2077 by Luke Ross play perfectly with Pimax???
That I don’t know. But as Luke I believe has Pimax’s support maybe.
Hmm… “must play with joypad”… soo… no hand-tracked controllers – that much is to be expected, but surely mouse and keyboard will still work, won’t it?
Yes mouse and keyboard still work. It’s just easier to play with a gamepad because you don’t have to worry about trying to find your keyboard keys without being able to see it.
I tried it with my 8KX and it has issues with aiming right now. The aiming cursor is not properly aligned in game. I let Luke know about this on his patreon and he is going to take a look at it when he gets a chance. I’m sure he’ll resolve it because his RDR2 mod had the same issue and he has now fixed it.
edit: this issue can likely already be resolved by turning on Parallel Projections but I didn’t bother trying that because the mod definitely can’t afford the performance loss caused by using it. At least on the RDR2 mod that fixed it before luke made the update. I’ve just been using my Quest 2 instead in the mean time.
What about performance? In pancake I get 60 fps with DLSS performance at 4K. I tried vorpx and although it was playable, it was fishbowl/walleye-vision not matter what I did. Would love a comparison with VorpX if someone could as I’m afraid I un-subbed from the Patreon thinking the RDR2 was one-off, probably have to pay again…
I gotta know how it works Aero vs pimax hahah. Can’t wait to get home and play
I haven’t tried the vorpx free-standing Cyberpunk mod, but I have tired a lot of other games with vorpx and have never been able to get the “natural” 3d look that I can get from Luke’s mods. I only have a 1080ti with a 7700K and am getting good performance with the resolution set to 1890x1890 on my Quest 2. The game still looks really good at this resolution although a tad bit blurry. The game did look better on my 8KX but I didn’t play it there long because of the aiming issue. The performance wasn’t quite as good on the 8KX either but I don’t remember if I actually tried it with the resolution down at this level.
Right on. I’ll look forward to playing it next week. Please share your performance tips here as there’s SO many ingame settings pitool settings etc.
I mostly just kept the settings that Luke’s mod set things to. Mostly low on everything. I did did turn shadows and volumetric fog up to medium and didn’t notice any framerate difference though. I don’t think this change really made the game look any better so probably not even worth doing.
How about the pitool stuff, fov, motion smoothing? (Not sure what that means exactly with the 5kx)
in the aero it works ok i am getting 90 fps with all in game settings on low, resolution is at the mods default (iirc about 2400x2400), i will try upping it a little. as acegamer said its a little blurry at distance but things nearby look stunning. impressed with it.
Edit of the edit: i’m not getting anywhere near 90fps with it at default res, fpsVR says 90 but the mods fps counter says near 60
Well it has some issues. Mouse doesn’t move vertical, gun is in your nose (too close), when aiming with sniper scope you need to find it by headset, but still cant control by mouse, so gunfight is impossible. Scanning cameras or anything else only works in the center of your eye (left and right) but not in the middle of your total view. Its interesting to try and take a walk in game, but that’s all, for now.
