The X is probably better thanks to the wide FoV which make the strength of the Pimax hmd (beside the 4k).
But the g2 is about half the price.

Hey. I see you helped out Eric for President get up and running with knuckles and G2.

It got me thinking .

I will be getting the G2 soon and I wondet if it would actually be more convenient to switch between G2 with index controllers and Pimax with Index controllers since I wouldn’t have to re pair the controllers if I pair them as he did with the Vive.

That being said…i wonder if I even need to use the Vive trick if its paired to the Pimax

So my questions are

1. If paired with vive will Pimax work with them still? Do they show up in Pitool?

2. If i turn off the Pimax 8kx and then plug in the G2, 5k+ or even the Vive for that matter would steam basically still show the controllers as they nevet left but just see the headset pop in?

3. Can the Pimax be used in substitution for a Vive in Erics setup?

4. When used this way and using another steamVR headset (i.e Not a Reverb) woukd the space calbrator even be necessary?

5. Would this work to Quest 2 with knuckles?

6. If the answers to the above are yes can you or @NextGenVR do a video showing this in action? Since you guys seem to have the necessary hardware to try this.

This would be super cool because what the OG vive wouod become is kind of a steam vr controller hub independant of whatever headset you want to use

I think it is a fair evaluation. Clarity it is a no brainer the G2 will win. Since in Potato to Small FoV the 5k+ would be more Similar in Res as the Index. For colors and contrast we would need new screens cause imho even with a variety of Display panel settings the current displays spec wise likely cannot be adjusted enough to be on even ground.

Now with the coming 5kSuper they could changes things quite dramatically for a 5kSeries model. If there were to use displays on par with the Razer Phone with the igloo(sp?) Lcd display with HDR support it could be a much better fight save for the lack of resolution to add clarity.

It would be interesting to see an 8kX with the newer display settings compared to the G2.

Dealing with Pimax as a whole isn’t something I’d recommend for anyone. It’s a bit of a nightmare. Things I take for granted like having a sore nose ridge, resetting my view once a lap, terrible software isn’t anything a normal person going to adapt to and normalize.

So my 8kx is maybe more theoretical than something I’d invest into. First priority is an updated gasket which I’ll work on doing this weekend.

@NextGenVR did you face mod anymore or your last mod still working as intended?

Agreed pimax needs to fix up the customer xp side of things.
