Nice to see behind the scenes.
It looks like they build about 10 headsets a day. It’s not the production line I imagined.
VoodooDE is maybe your best bet. Nathie is in the Netherlands I believe also but he’s kinda quest only. Oh and Cas/Chary are in the Netherlands and they tend to get a lot of different headsets but not really Pimax.
Fwiw, that was the crystal light production line which is quiet right now. I would expect the Super line to be putting out a lot more.
Fun fact: he‘s living 20 miles away from me. But I have never heard that he would invite/allow VR enthusiasts into his space to test headsets.
But yeah, why don‘t I shoot him an email and see, if he is willing to do so…
Yeah I was wondering about that. Thanks for clarifying as I thought the bump was odd being so high in that mode being approx 3° off average or max human stereo overlap bring 120° in RdToVR article.
We’re back!! openmr forum were down for a couple of days. Great to see you all again!
Yeah a big shout out to pimax tech. Not sure how he did it specifically but his efforts made it possible for me to run the rebuild command.
However the mail server is down ATM and apparently has been broken for awhile. They are looking into that issue.
We may need to take the forum down at sometime in the future to do a server OS upgrade.
Nobody find the timing of the site going offline „accidentally“ a bit too convenient for Pimax?
By the way, was there anybody in this forum being targeted by the Pimax paid positive reviews scheme? I was not targeted, big surprise; I’m pretty sure Atmos wasn‘t either
I should go back and look at my posts on the Crystal Super - they were actually at least 70% positive, so I need to hand them in with an invoice! Yeah, prob less than 300 words though, bugger.
They’re flying me out to China to Demo the Dream Air Ultra Wide. Haha.
It’s good to be back.
It was a bit but the first time I knew about any wrong doings was when I watched Pimax’s Video about it. So Pimax made a bigger thing of it.
Tariffs are back in the news. One minute 3 judges rule Tarrifs are illegal. Then there’s an appeal and we have to wait to see the outcome. I’m not sure if any of this relates to Pimax but it seems they’re in the clear.
In a strange twist of fate Palmer Luckey and Zuckerberg are now mates again. Their companies are partnering to make military AR and VR devices.
Has anyone tried the Alien Isolation Grandmother Mod?
I’m holding out for a Micro-OLED HMD before diving back into this one.
Thanks for pointing this out!
Definitely will give it a whirl on my AVP with surreal controllers, microOLED is probably going to cause me a heart attack
I read it on RoadtoVR:
Pimax Apologizes After Secret Social Media Incentive Program Sparks Astroturfing Concerns
Pimax was doing damage control, nothing else.
No it was quite inconvenient as I was the one that ran the update command from the site’s web UI which failed. That happens from time to time as some updating required to be completed directly on the server. While the forum is back up. I have been advised to delay any further updates until the Server OS is upgraded.
If this forum was booming similar to during the KS. Then maybe there would be reason to suspect it was “convenient”. However with the mail server bring broken since possibly November or December of last year.
The only activity here is those who regularly logon here without being promoted by emails.
There is more than enough exposure of the recent mishap with the endorsing positive reviews with rewards. Which thankfully maygaming(?) casted a light on and was immediately discontinued once @jaapgrolleman became aware of it.
OpenMR is essentially a dead platform with less than 20 of us(being generous on number) participating here.
The forum went down simply because I was not aware the server OS is eol and needs to be upgraded to a newer LTS.
It was on the Discord. Is said to be 9 ppl in total with only 3 that were presented with the reward layout
Jaap was not a happy camper as they implemented new policies and procedures so that ideas would be properly evaluated. Unfortunately as we know pimax internal communication has been very poor in the past with the compartmental structure allowing autonomy.
You may recall Matthew and Dallas having to many times straighten out customer service after telling ppl to file a ticket in something regarding the KS headsets. With CS rejecting the ticket.
@Axacuatl yes it is damage control on something that should not have been rolled out as it did not go through the proper channels and would not have been approved.
Owning it and communicating the ownership is the right thing to do. Had Maygaming(?) not casted a light on this they would be in much worst position then they are.
Google was in part exposed doing something similar. When an early receiver of the Google Pixel 8 pro gave an unfavourable reviews on his YouTube channel. So when the Pixel 9 was rolling out they refused to send him one.
A lot of companies look for ways to legally skate by things. Of course it is not right. But this is exactly why we need to always use a broader sampling of reviews to ensure we are getting a proper balance.
This transgression has to be one of the worst things that pimax has done to date. We all know that in the past for the most part pimax has accepted the bad with the good.
Noticed I said for the most part. The Doubling down on mis-reporting FoV and attempting to claim @risa2000 Hmdq program was not accurate was pure stupidity after numerous times citing and endorsing it as accurate.
