Very concerned about the Brightness Levels

Hello… I have read(from some random) that the pimax is going to have the same amount of lumen as the Oculus, 150 lumens?

I own a Vive, and if i understood correctly the Vive has double the lumen(340lumens)…

In my opinion this is already very dim!

Can we get an official answer to this?

Thank you

Oculus CV1 is 130lux, so even at 150lux the Pimax would be brighter than the Rift - which thousands of people use and love.

A Vive is 390lux.

I don’t believe we have an official report from Pimax stating lux numbers, yet, just that it’s “brighter than the Oculus Rift.”

[Note to anyone going to a Pimax demo - Take a Lux meter with you and just stick it in the headset for us, report back]

I didn’t know Vive is twice as bright as the Rift. I owned a Vive before, not Rift…so i can’t compare.

I tried a demo of the Rift and it was noticeably more dim. The demo PC also seemed to be supersampling at like 0.7…so I couldn’t judge it very well, but I didn’t feel much immersion vs my Vive. I tried Roborecall, which I own and played on the Vive. I might have to go demo it again one more time to see if they fixed the resolution.

Also keep in mind they may have improved brightness in the last prototype they are unveiling next week. Probably best to wait and see

Yeah I’m hoping they did. They sorta mentioned it’ll be better, but who knows.

I own both Vive and Rift and never have I felt on the Rift…oh that’s dark, I can’t see???

At the very least as long as its marginally brighter than the Rift that’s fine… But I would prefer an answer from PIMAX to state the actual lux level of the final HMD’s.

Thank you for your opininions guys… it is my personal opininion that brightness or the lack there off plays a big role in immersion…

Therefore, to me atleast, anything less bright than the Vive would be somewhat of a step back…

Is it a contrast thing maybe, washing out the black levels?

Can we get some numbers/specifics/more detailed information on this @Matthew.Xu @deletedpimaxrep1 @Pimax-Support

Thanks.

3x as bright. I have both, and true enough the colour, especially in game like Elite, is much better in the Vive. It’s bright and vibrant, with better blacks, too.

Lux is non linear.
I’d personally like it to be brighter and more contrast than the vive but it should be great.
Just because it’s double the lux doesn’t mean it’s literally twice as bright lol

So far I have only tried the Vive and the Pimax 4K. The Vive was perfect for me as far as brightness is concerned, but the 4K (shutter glass not removed) was seriously lacking.

Psvr: roughly 10 lux, yes ten.
Oculus/ pimax 8k: 150
Vive:almost 400 lux

So, i just read in another topic that also seems to share the brightness issue there was a reply by @Matthew.Xu where he said:

“The brightness of 8k is almost the same as the Oculus CV1. The brightness spec will be provided later”

Just like to say that you are dealing with a lot of Vive users using those much brighter screens…

Can we get an official response please?

If they can get the brightness as good as the vive, I will eat my shoe.

“If they can get the brightness as good as the vive, I will eat my shoe.”

Do you have (inside-) knowledge to make such a remark?

Lol two years ago pre vive release r vive haha

well, that is kind of bashing them without a valid reason… i am willing to give them the benefit of the doubt… but again, some kind of response would be welcomed…

maybe i should hold my breath until the final prototype is released for demoing next weeks?

Prototype was push back to late October I think. I’m not bashing it all lol I’m stoked for pimax

I guarantee that the prototype will arrive next week without delay.
We feel very honored that everybody have such a high enthusiasm for our products.
I apologize for not replying to you in time, and I have submitted the question of brightness (first priority) to the product team. I will reply as soon as possible. Thanks a lot!
