Use Trackir for Headtracking. How to turn off gyroscope

Well, I definitely have to say, that Beta update really shows that you are all on the right path.

I’ve given that Beta update a decent run the last couple days and there is a huge improvement. There is still the occasional drift here and there, but far from what was there before.
The only time I’m seeing drift now is when I look in one direction multiple times without going the other way. This will usually correct itself a lot better now however by just looking the other direction.

@PIMAX-Support would it be possible to use :

Looks like they are starting to use it for positional VR tracking so surely there is a way to get it to work for head tracking.

Can anyone confirm this would be in direct mode and not extended?

I have A TrackIR5 as well as a opentrack style IR setup using one PSEYE Camera.

Driver4vr only redirects the data from the psmove to the steamvr.
In the steamvr environment it works well but at least 2 cameras are needed but better 4.

Sorry so can you confirm SteamVR is still running in direct mode / pimax mode and not extended/video mode?

Hey Lonny.

@jonnypanic confirmed drvr4vr is working with steam direct mode.

Awesome well worth the price then! I will have to check it out. So Kinect overall sounds like the best option right now? And this would give 6DOF with the pimax gyros off or would those be used for rotational position. As mentioned just looking for head tracking for Elite, Projects Cars, DCS, IL2 etc.

Ive got the adapter for my kinect 360 coming today, but I was also going to see about using trackIR.

I disable the gyros on the hmd, load track IR, but when I start a game its not seeing/using trackIr… I reason the game is looking for the movment info from the VR headset even though its disabled.

is there a trick or something im missing?

I am not certain but i think you need something like freepie? Or some steambridge to connect trackir.

This device is very interesting, will it become real?
